I am a first time mum and i have a 5 month old little girl. I put her straight onto sma gold which didnt agree with her, it made her sicky and gave her bad colic, in one day i had 6 bibs soaked in that milk. I contacted the sma careline and they were quite unhelpful, they claimed their product was fine despite them having changed the fats they use in it. They also said to me they had conducted research and no-one else had complained, I asked to see this research which they couldnt provide me with. SMA is sickly, sweet and greasy. I believe its to rich for little ones tummy and recently i had to take her to hospital as she had severe colic and cramps. SMA offered me vouchers which is no good for me as they make no other products. Dont bulk buy milk like I did because no where will exchange or return it in the UK despite having a receipt due to health and safety, I tried to do this at tesco and no one was helpful despite me explaining it to them and the items being sealed, in date and in tact. I have now put my daughter onto aptamil and she is a lot better so far. I did some research and aptamil is a lighter milk on their digestive systems despite SMA claiming their milks are easy to digest. Has anyone else had problems with SMA gold and if so what did you change to?

Hi hun, Kayla is on SMA gold & we're about to change as she brings up most of her feeds but only since they brought out the "new & improved" formula. We're changing to SMA Staydown once this can is finished x

you might get a better response :flower:

morgan was on sma when she was younger and we had nothing but problems with it
it caused constipation, sickness and didn't help my daughters colic my health visitor advised i switch to cow and gate comfort as she has seen quite a few babies have problems with sma

emily was on sma from birth and we
never had a problem

it's all about finding the right one for your child
i was lucky that the first choice was fine but i know
loads who have had to keep changing because
they didn't agree with their los

it's always good to buy small tins to begin with
in case you run into a problem

It all depends on the LO, SMA has been fantastic for my little girl and I can't really fault it whereas other babies have had problems. Just the same as aptamil and C&G has been good for some but bad for others. It's all about trial and error

SMA was no good for Hollie either. She had terrible colic with it. I took one look at it and thought how creamy and rich it looked. Switched to Aptamil the next day and she was a lot lot better!!

We started with SMA and he was constipated to hell. Switched to Cow & Gate comfort for a while and then Cow & Gate stage 1, all fine :)

Harvey was on SMA when I stopped breastfeeding...possibly the worst milk ever!Harvey was constipated..we changed to Cow and Gate and had no problems at all.xx

Iv never had any problems with sma but I have heard of others that have.
As for returning milk try the "my stupid husband picked up the wrong one, any chance I can change it please" approach it worked for me :)
