progesterone and PRO-ESTROGEN?

I had my cd 21 bloods drawn and kept calling to get the results. It's wednesday and they said that the progesterone was in but not the pro-estrogen? What do they mean? What is the pro-estrogen measuring? My progesterone was an 8 and she said she was happy with that number. Shouldn't it be at least 15?! AGH

It should be a 15 with medication and 10 with no medication. If it makes you feel any better mine was only 2.2.

Oh, I never heard of pro-estrogen! I'll ask my clinic tomorrow what they're testing for and see if they're doing that on me as well...

well, I asked them what they were testing for and they didn't mention anything about pro-estrogen but maybe that's just my clinic?

My progesterone was 30.9 i got told it has to be over 30 to hold a pregnancy. mine was 7 dec 2010 when i was overweight and not on meds and my cycles were 60+days xx

I'm at work and looking at the lab requisitions we normally use but I don't see a pro-estrogen measure. Maybe it was the estradiol (estrogen) alone?

Aha, some googling shows that pro-estrogen is the precursor, essentially, to estradiol. So it should be the same thing as measuring estrogen - just another name for it.

That's what I was thinking. Sometimes when people have a progesterone deficiency they have high estradiol or pro estrogen.

I only have a progesterone deficiency and nothing else that I know of. Progesterone suppositories and Clomid fixed it. Now all I have to do is get pregnant.

Thanks girls! I had a 27 day cycle with clomid. happy I ovulated and a friend of mine (who was at the same exact ovulation date as me) had a lower progesterone than me and actually got pregnant this cycle. I asked my doctor about taking supplements to help the progesterone and she said without a history of miscarriage I don't need it....stupid...but whatever. I'll be taking a b complex to hopefully help my lp (it was 12 days so not horrible but could be longer)

That is stupid because I don't have a history of miscarriages, but my doctor still put me on Progesterone.

she said that my progesterone was gonna rise later on or something. I have no idea. I decided not to worry about it because I ovulated and I need to just hope that's good enough for now. Having the extra worry was driving me crazy.
