So I've been spotting/lighting bleeding every single day since April 18th. No real period, either. I finally cracked and went to my FS on Friday (May 17th) he got blood drawn up to check for pregnancy and to see what was up with my hormones. I went in on Sunday the 19th for the results and he confirmed I ovulated we just have no idea when, my progesterone was 5.78 he said it was "good and high". From what I've read after ovulation you progesterone levels should be much higher than 5.78.

Anyhow he is sending me for an ultrasound tomorrow to check for any cysts that could be throwing me off and making me spot, then he wants to but me on provera to encourage a real period, progesterone supplements for "extra support" and something to "make me ovulate".

I'm confused because if 5.78 is "good and high" in his own words why the supplements?

Anyone really good at this progesterone stuff lol?

After my 2nd MC they tested my progesterone and it came back at 7.62 (or something like that). I was told it was fine, but they still put me on progesterone supplements when i got pregnant with DD, because it could only help, and from what I understand, the supplements they give you (mine were vaginal), it doesn't show up in your blood. So 5.68 doesn't look bad at all, but FS is just being extra cautious *winkwink: I *think* I've read somewhere that anything over 3 meant that you ovulated...

ok ok. I think I just google stuff way too much and then I get confused and worried! Everywhere I've read ppl say they have levels ranging from 30-77 after o'ing so it had me confused. I guess better to support the progesterone rather than not every little bit helps. Thanks I think I'm feeling a little more comfortable now.

Google is both the best and worst thing:dohh: As far as other's levels, I think it depends where you live (i.e they don't have the same ''scale''). I was also worried until I noticed this :)

the scales are different depending on where you ive as pp said. UK is over 35 indicates a good ovulation and i believe over 5 in the US indicates some kind of ovulation but they prefer levels over 10 - this link might help x

turns out I have a cyst on my left ovary. Feels like AF is coming, so he didnt give me anything right now to start it, but if it doesn't come by Monday then I go back for provera and progesterone. Then I go back on day 3 of my period to check the lining and to see if the cyst has grown at all.

Most doctors like to see 10+ for ovulation my doc told me I had low levels the first time I had them checked they were 10.2 . Guess every doctor has a different view ?

I dont know its so confusing....sometimes I feel like its all a money grab and they really dont care about the numbers of anything as long as there is a dollar sign in front of it!

I think that the additional progesterone is just to cover all of the bases. If you are already going through the cost of a medicated cycle, you might as well do it just in case. Also, just because your levels are high enough to indicate ovulation, they may not be high enough to sustain a pregnancy.

I see a specialist and when my progesterone is low (but above 3) she tells me it means you ovulated but it was "abnormal" - small egg etc. I have never had a progesterone test be higher than 10.8 - I always take it after ovulation (cream and vaginal pills)
