Hi All! I am 5 weeks and my doctor just called me to confirm that I am indeed pregnant (they wanted to do a blood test). They also told me I had low Progesterone levels, around 10. Has anyone else experienced this? Did everyone have their levels tested? I'm reading some very bad things about low progesterone (miscarrages, etc) and I don't want to be worried! I also read that progesterone is cut in half after you eat and I ate before both blood tests so that may have something to do with it?

They sent me for another blood test and if it is still low they will put me on a supplement.

I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks!

At 7 weeks my progesterone was at a 9 and the dr immediately called me back j to the office to begin progesterone injections and as if Monday week 9 it's at a 45 and 50 is ideal. So it is something you can do something about especially if u catch it early enough!!! In sure u will be just fine... Wishing u luck!!

I told the doctor, because I had no idea what levels were normal and why it would be bad that I wasn't sure if I wanted to take a supplement. I'm not on anything as of yet, not until they get the latest results from my blood test (Monday/Tuesday). Should I call back now and ask for a perscription??

Progesterone is really important- I am know for being low and I can't get anyone to test me and it really scares me. The one doctor .. well NP is a real idiot. She is way off on her knowledge of thyroid- like stone age backward..I really do not trust anything she says also she keeps reading the wrong results from wrong dates and it takes forever to set her straight. Monday I finally see a ob gyn so I hope they will test but Im over 7 weeks now- Will it be to late by then if I need it? I already had bleeding (one day, really red) had a u/s a week later though and all looked ok and even a heart beat.

It's good your doctor checked. GL!

I would. The progesterone won't hurt you or the baby so i see no reason to not be on it if your level is low. I took it with my last 2 pregnancies...one ended in mc and the other resulted in a healthy baby. As soon as I found out i was pregnant the second time, i called my OB and had them go ahead and call me in a rx b/4 I had any bloodwork done, just bc I knew it was low in my past 3 pregnancies. Good luck.

My specialist put me on Progesterone the week before my BFP, and I will be on it my entire first trimester. She thinks it helps support a pregnancy and I had a previous MC so she said it wouldnt hurt and could help so I have been on it so far and so good lol! It is two vaginal suppositories - one morning, one at night.. not really a big deal and hey if it helps I am happy to take them xx

Like Petzy I take the vag suppositories too morning and night. They used to make me fall asleep, I was off at Christmas break when I first started taking them and would have a 2 hour morning nap after I had them. They put me to sleep now in the evening. If you have cramping it's meant to help with this as it relaxes your muscles.

My progesterone was 3 at 4 weeks last pregnancy..3!! My dr put me on oral supplements and it began to grow and grow, i gave birth to my baby perfect baby girl 7 months ago! I just found out im pregnant with #2 yesterday. Ill be about 4 weeks tomorrow, going to Dr on monday to get bloods. Hoping I wont have to do supplements again, but well see! Your level isnt that low!
