I am in my fifth week after a mc about a year ago. It took this long for me to concieve again. My very one the ball medical staff decided that despite my mc and trouble that they wouldn't ask for progesterone to be checked in my first two blood tests, just hcg. So, when I found that out I insisted that we do another to test it...guess what... 14.7 which according to them is borderline low (they say 15 is the bottom of normal but another Dr I used said 20, so not sure).
Anyway, I am now (no thanks to them) about to start progesterone suppositories and had a few questions. First... can you still have sex? It seems that my OH would be getting progesterone therapy as well if we did...
Second, I used to do a lot of equine reporductive work and we often put older mares on regumate which was a synthetic progesterone. It was commonly known to cause changes in the external genitalia of female offspring of these mare (usually enlarged it). Is this the case in humans? has anyone heard any side-effects?
After reading I am pretty torn about whether I want to use this or not. It seems to have a lot of side effects and many reports that it isn't effective and that some women just have lower levels and do fine. I really hate the idea of taking something.
