Im almost 4 weeks post patrum and my lo was 9lb at birth and all happened very quick. Was 3-4cm when waters broke she was born less than an hour later in 3 pushes. I tore down and then up both labia my paper work said 3rd degree and was stitched. I've been using a mirror to check stitches which are all out now and I've noticed 3 bulges down there. The first one is a urethracele (as diagnosed by google lol) there's then a bulge below this then a bigger one at the bottom of the vaginal opening. I can also see scaring of when my vaginal opening should be iykwim, so it looks like it's bigger as it was not stitched which I guess will make the prolapses worse. I'll be having my 6 week check in a couple of weeks so will talk to dr about it but what are others experiences? I was thinking of trying one of the pelvic toning machines when ive healed a bit more to help, anyone used these and had good results? It's starting to upset me a bit and I don't want oh anywhere near me

im 4 weeks also and feel my stitches or the cut is lumpy, not smooth... im hearing from friends that it will most likely stay that way or rather improve more in the next couple weeks then remain a bit lumpy... basically its a scar and will not go back to the way it used to be... sorry... i have no clue myself but this is what ive heard

Yeh my scar is lumpy and quite hard to feel!! Hopefully the hardness will settle down. I checked down there in a mirror while lying down earlier and the two bottom prolapses I see at the bottom arnt as bad so hopefully I do have some room for improvement while I continue heeling.

Sweetheart please try not to worry, I have had a cystocele a rectrocele and a urethracele diagnosed.

The have gotten a little better, and the pain/pressure that I feel isn't anywhere near as bad as it was.

I found a lot of reassurance on the Prolapse Health Forums and because of that I bought the HAB-it dvd, which not only tells you how to do pelvic floor exercises correctly, but helps with supporting and strengthening your whole pelvic basket. The lady that devised it had prolapses (much worse than mine)... she is a physical therapist ans also takes part in triathalons!!! I have recently bought an UltraTone machine too, but it's too early to tell whether it's made a difference yet.

One thing I would say is don't go doing your pelvic floors like a mad woman, or you'll give yourself muscle fatigue.... Just do two sets of 8 a day, holding each kegel for 8 seconds and then do 4 quick tightens and relaxes in between.

Don't let yourself get constipated either, I take something for that everyday... your bowel movement should literally fall out, you cannot strain with a prolapse. Don't lift anything heavy/awkward. For me the most difficult thing was not carrying my newborn around in her carseat, so I did it all seperately. I got people to help me etc... you have to look after your prolpses...

If you want to ask me anything or just to have a chat you can always PM me. I have had awful days in the past, but they seem to be behind me now x x x

Oh thank you for that. X I don't seem to have much pain or unpleasant feelings down there from it all which I've read alot of women do so bit confused as to why I don't. I've also read about overdoing pelvic floor exercises too so I've not been going mad, I've sldo ordered an electric one off amazon see how that goes.

Do you know if over time and doing pf exercise that the urethracele will improve and move back towards it's normal position, if not fully? I also need to make an effort to remember to get something for constipation when I go shopping! I'm breast feeding so if I have a day I don't drink enough I can get a bit bunged up.

Thank you for all your advice. Xx

Just to let you know I have red your reply, will sit down tonight when little one is in bed and write back x
