Anyone take this before? Any side effects that I should be aware of. I am nervous...I hate taking new things.

hi hun i've not heard of this before what is it and what is it used for?

No answers hun. What's it for?

I took prometrium before and I really didn't have any side effects other then my temp were elevated (hence the progesterone) I took it with my last m/c. My doctor also wants me to start taking it after I ovulate every month as he thinks there is a progesterone defincency with me. I hope that helps. But no I really didn't have any side effects. Good luck! :hug:

Oh and I was prescribed to take it vaginally. But my new doctor told me that I can take it orally or vaginally.

Aren't those medications more effective when taken vaginally? At least this is what I heard...

My DR said that progesterone vaginally can cause thinning and even sores.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if it causes a false positive on a pregnancy test???

I can't think of why progesterone would cause a false positive. Only if you're taking certain medications that contain HCG would there be a chance of a false positive I think.

I'm currently taking a 100mg form of progesterone, up from the 2mg form I took the last couple of months. It has made me very very tired. Doctor also said I could take it vaginally, but the packet said to take it orally o.o so I am just swallowing them to be safe. ;S

Haven't heard of false positives on Pregnancy tests. But I have gotten a false positive on OPK with the pills, I'm not sure how or why but the doctor didn't seem fussed about it.

I am not sure if this is the same medication as you, as I'm in a different country and it's called a different name ^^;

Hope everything goes well for you! I also hate taking new meds =(

It does not give false positives. When I took it, I was pregnant and I did end up miscarrying.Not saying that it causes miscarriages. It was a very strange pregnancy as I found out I was pregnant on CD8, right after my normal period!So as you can imagine I couldn't believe it! So I was POAS everyday! They were getting darker and being a POAS aholic the tests started getting lighter towards the end, so no I don't think you can get a false positive. (Not that I am aware of) Oh and just for reassurance, I was getting blood tests too along with the hpt's.
I did take it vaginally and I didn't have any problems at all with it, but this time I think I am going to take it orally. Just because that is how I feel comfortable doing it. Good luck and I hope this helps. :hug:

Thanks for all the help. So far today, I don't feel any diff (first dose last night)-except my fingers feel fat...but, Rob has the heat up, and I feel hot, so maybe that is why? I am glad it doesn't cause false positives. I would hate to think that I was pregnant, and then later find out it was just the progesterone.

Jasmak,
