Hi all - I just experienced my 2nd CP on our 12th month ttc. My doctor prescribed me prometrium to begin taking 3 days after O. I'd love to hear success stories if anyone has one!

I've taken prometrium for all of my successful pregnancies. However, I start from bfp and continue to 14 weeks when I wean off of it. This is just MY personal method and my dr is fine with it but most drs will say you can come off of it around 12 weeks.

I know a few women who have taken it starting at 3dpo and it's worked well for them so hopefully you have the same luck. And they all only needed it for that one pregnancy. Having a successful pg somehow 'reset' their hormones and they haven't needed progesterone since.

ETA: Just be aware that progesterone supplements can cause a few side effects including dizziness, fatigue, and spotting.

Thanks, dairymomma! That is very encouraging!

I was prescribed progesterone during my successful pregnancy with DS, the doctor had me start 2 days after IUI, and I continued until week 12.

I miscarried at the end of May last year, and was not on progesterone, even though I had asked to be prescribed it. I'm 4w2d right now and on progesterone so I'm hoping it makes a difference.

Good luck this cycle! As dairymomma said there are side-effects, and unfortunately those side-effects feel like early pregnancy symptoms. Just wanted to let you know, as it can make symptom spotting very difficult during the TWW.

Thanks, Mama. Great to hear you had succes with it. I am sorry to hear about your loss. Congrats on the recent BFP! What are your side effects on prometrium? After O (not taking progesterone) I always get sore/tender/swollen breasts...except when I'm on clomid and I only get that a couple of days before AF.
