Prominent (Enlarged?) Uterus

Hello Ladies,
I’ve been trying to get my health in order so I can start trying for a baby with my husband after I graduate. I recently have been seeing an oncologist for low white blood cell count and he went ahead and did a CT of my chest abdomen and pelvis to rule out lymphoma. It came back normal except for what the radiologist called a “prominent uterus” and some cysts on both of my ovaries. Both the radiologist and oncologist told me to follow up with my regular OBGYN to further discuss what is going on with the uterus.

I called for an appointment with the OBGYN and his nurse called me back saying “The OBGYN said he thinks your uterus is normal for your age (29 no kids) and the cysts are just ovulation occurring.” I’m rather disheartened due to the last 3 appointments I have had with the OBGYN for the following:

-Cryosurgery due to moderate cervical dysplasia
-Bleeding in between periods/ clotting in between periods
-Pain in my groin along with an enlarged lymph node
-Irregular periods

Has anyone had an enlarged uterus??

I worry because cancer took my mother and sister at young ages. Thank you for reading!!

First- I'm sorry the OB didn't at least get you booked. TBH, feeling brushed off when you KNOW something is up (even if it's something totally normal or fixable) is so frustrating!

You know your body best- so I'd say push for another appt (or another opinion) or maybe see a specialist? I love my OB- but after LO was born I had physical issues down below (major pain)- and to be frank, doctors only know what they know. They can't know it ALL. So when everything kept coming back "normal"- and my OB couldn't find the cause, I asked to be referred (but the waiting list for the specialist was 8mos! and after 14mos I didn't want to wait any longer)- so I did my own research and found another OB who got me sorted after one appt!!! Thankfully...

The point being- be pushy. If it's only for reassurance- then so beit! I know uterus's can be larger (my friends is) and cysts are very common during periods... but you have other things going on. And even if it's nothing to be really concerned with- you deserve to feel heard. Best of luck!

Thanks for the advice!! I got a second opinion at an OB I really liked in the past and she was just as amazing as I remember! She ran blood work, did a PAP, ordered a SONO, and more. I just went back yesterday and had the SONO and talked about the results.

The cyst’s burst, my uterus was just fine, and I was diagnosed (from the blood work) with Hashimoto’s Disease (no hypothyroidism) and that explains everything including the low WBC count.

I’m a bit scared about having kids with this disease, plus the PAP showed high grade squamous cells (5months after my cryo to treat this), so now I have to have LEEP. I feel like kids are getting pushed further and further back now, I’m turning 29 and the hubby is 35. *Sigh*

I'm glad you got some insight! Sometimes just KNOWING what your dealing with is the biggest thing!

Hopefully you are on the road to TTC soon hun... try not putting too much pressure on yourself. Hey, if it makes you feel any better- I was 37 when I finally got pregnant and had my LO!!! Granted- I had some fertility hurdles myself- but I'm sure you'll have an easier time being much younger!
