Hey everyone need some advice--I just got back from the pediatrician's office with Valerie. She had some blood in her stool again and I decided to take her to the doctor. It was not a lot at all, but it was there and I knew it wasn't normal. The doctor said that it is more than likely a protein allergy or intolerance to something that I have eaten. More than likely a dairy product. Has this happened to any of you and if so, what did you do? In the past two weeks, I recently started eating a lot of yogurt and this is about when all the blood issues started happening in her stools. So the doctor recommended starting with cutting the yogurt out and see if that makes a difference. If so, you'll know what it is. If not, just continue cutting other dairy products out of my diet.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had gone through this...

Yes. Dairy is a huge culprit in much of the bf "colic" and other problems. It takes about 2 weeks for the dairy protiens to leave you system entirely. Be sure to take a probiotic supplement too as cutting dairy will alter your body cultures and might allow for good conditions for yeast/thrush.

Yes,this dairy factor is quite well known. That is why I take calcium tablets instead. I do still use dairy but only a litttle.

\yep, I figured out pretty quickly that Bren has problems when I eat dairy as well. He spits up LOADS and has horrible gas that causes him pain. So no dairy for me. I miss cheese....:(

Is it possible that Valerie could only have an intolerance to the yogurt that I was eating? For the past three days I haven't had any yogurt and her poops are back to normal and she is eating well again. The pedi said to start with one thing first and see how that goes....so I started with the dairy that I had recently just started eating within the last month and that was the yogurt.

That's the thing... dairy protiens are dairy protiens no matter what form... That's why all dairy should be cut out... Sounds like that's the culprit though... I plan on reintroducing dairy into my diet every couple of months or so to see if things are getting any better.
