Protein in urine @ 13 weeks

Looking for the most common causes. My blood pressure is also high.
I had hypertension with my DD but by the third trimester. Not this early. I have never had protein in my urine.

Looking to hear from someone who has had this happen. TIA

I had protein in my urine when it was tested on Friday and I asked the midwife what the causes could be and she said at this stage of pregnancy it's most likely contamination in the urine from vaginal discharge but she sent it off to be tested incase there is an infection.

I also has protein in my urine, mw said only a little bit and not to worry, we did vaginal swabs anyway and all came back clear. I don't think it's much to worry about x

If it's just a trace probably discharge or a bit of skin cell contamination. If it's 1+ or more you could have an infection. While it is possible to get pre-e prior to 20 weeks its very rare, if your level is +1 or higher I would imagine they'd draw bloods to check it's not pre-e and send a urine sample off to see if you have an infection that needs treatment.
