Provera question... TMI alert of symptoms

I really need insight if anyone has had the same situation happen to them. I have PCOS and I took Femara 5 mg CD 5-9; I did not ovulate and was instructed to start my medroxyprogesterone (Provera) if I did not have a period within the month. I started at 10 mg for 10 days, I ended last Friday. I am now a week after the last pill, and still no period. Provera has NEVER failed me and usually I start a couple of days after the last pill. I know it can take up to 2 weeks after the pill, but I'm starting to have weird symptoms that I've never had with provera before. I am having fertile mucus, almost like I'm ovulating, extremely sore nipples, fuller breasts, major fatigue, and my wedding ring finger is breaking out which has never happened. I am having pain in my ovary areas, and a backache as if I'm going to start my period, but I have no inkling that I am. Has anyone had this happen? If you did, what was the outcome? I am calling the dr later, but I just want a peace of mind that I can have someone relate to what I'm going through.

Hi! I just had the wackiest provera cycle too! I think it's very possible to ovulate on or just after provera, even though progesterone usually prevents ovulation. Your symptoms may be signs that you O'd, or could be the provera itself. After O, I usually get very sore nipples and bloating...I get these same symptoms in cycles that i take provera, since the progesterone in provera basically mimics the luteul phase. If you temp, you will also most likely notice a temp rise during and after provera...a lot of people think they O'd due to this, but it's just the progesterone making your BBT rise. Have you taken a HPT yet? That's one way to know!

As for me, I ended last cycle with provera, because I also have cysts (not sure if PCO or PCOS) and I haven't ovulated in months. I got a light AF for a few days. Then ~CD7 of my new cycle I started getting very sore boobs, very usual for me, even around AF. I took a HPT CD8 (no idea what I took one, probably just to torture myself), and it was a very faint positive. The next day (which is today actually), my temp plummeted, my second HPT was definitely negative, and AF came (again) full force. I really think I might have O'd sometime around taking the provera or just after, and unfortunately it didn't stick.

So, I say, TEST!

Thank you for your response! I am still having tons of egg white mucus and I just thought its due to my body laughing at me lol! I've never had these symptoms with provera before and usually I have started by now, but I hope it's me ovulating that would be awesome! My temps have been all over but I noticed a rise while taking provera; it would rise and drop. I figured I'd start each time it dropped, then my temp would rise again. So sorry on your af showing, it's ridiculous our bodies cannot ovulate lol. I just want my af to start so I can start my femara again and try again.

I know, I don't know what more my ovaries need from me to just given me an egg! Come on guys!

It is strange to have a different reaction to provera than normal. But I have heard it happening before. EWCM is strange though, so hopefully it does mean O! I think if you haven't gotten AF 2 weeks after your last provera pill you should definitely test.

I got a little ewcm before starting priod after taking provera..may be your period is on its way

IM having the exact same problem. I have taking Provera in the past and have always started within a week but Tuesday will be 2 weeks on this round and im seeing nothing. I took a test and it was BFN. SO I guess I will be calling the doctor.

I t started light bleeding today finally! Wa gettin worried, now I can start my femara in a few days. Never wanted a period so badly lol!

I'm starting provera tomorrow as long as my blood test tells them that my estrogen level is high enough...then it'll be my first round on clomid. eeeks!

Stupid lazy ovaries that won't ovulate on their own. lol

I met w/ an obgyn nurse practitioner last week and she agreed that I must have ovulated, probably 1 or 2 days after my last provera pill. I can't believe I O'd on my own! Sucks it was poor timing w/ progesterone and AF, so the BFP didn't stand a chance, but still somewhat of a relief that my ovaries haven't completely given up I'm going to give this cycle 1 more try, then on to clomid. Good luck with all your clomid/femera this cycle!

At least you O'd... now to O earlier lol! I'm hoping I finally O on my own, because this keeps getting heartbreaking every time I hear that the pills I take didn't work for me. If I don't O on this round of femara, then it's 200 mg of clomid plus a steroid... and I'm a psycho witch on clomid lol. So, keep your fingers crossed Femara works this time I have my fingers crossed for you!!

LOL! I should totally give my husband a card with that saying! I love Femara, but it hasn't given me ovulation yet; neither has clomid. I took 50 mg and 150 mg of clomid, but they only gave me one dose and told me that was all they could do for me and to have to go on to injectibles which I cannot afford because insurance doesn't cover. I switched doctors and he gave me femara, I have had no side effects. He is letting me do another dose of 5 mg CD 5-9 and I hope it works this time. When I was on Clomid I bawled and screamed at my hubby because I wanted Subway and he wouldn't go get it LOL! Oh I was such a psycho bitch! If Femara doesn't work this time, then I have to take 200 mg of clomid and a steroid so my hubby said he's going to live in the camper for the days I'm on Clomid LOL!

My insurance won't cover the clomid but he's prescribed us 4 rounds. It DOES cover pergonal though....so that's weird. lol I'm hoping the clomid will work and that i'll be one of those women that only needs one or two rounds.

I'm on CD 4 so I will be starting Femara tomorrow. If I were you I'd explain to your hubby that you may become a bitch bc I'm never a bitch even on my pd bc we were t allowed to be lol, my momma wouldn't allow it. However Clomid definitely made it that way even with the pep talk I had telling myself I wouldn't allow it; however I could not control the emotions unless I was around no one!

Oh, I warned him. He's noticed i've been a little more unstable just on the provera....which I told him SHOULDN'T change my moods at all...so now i'm REALLY worried. If i'm this unstable without clomid....look out! lol
