Its becoming harder to tell the difference between BH and real contractions.
Im having pulsating pain in my lower back with only tightening in my uterus, no pain in the front. Do you think this is a real contraction????? The pain was a little less bearable than what Ive been experiencing.....

Title is supposed to say DONT R&R... read and run

I'm not sure but they normally say if contractions are accompanied with back pain to speak to your midwife x

I am having the same thing today and having a hard time deciding what to do. My dr is out of the office until tomorrow so I have to rely on Labor & Delivery which is not a pleasant place to be unless you are truly in labor. .... I am not sure what I am going to do but I know that I can barely move

Same pain being experienced here also and am unsure what to do, i think i will be waiting to see if anything else progresses as i have had two false labour starts... so unless i am gasping or struggling too much with pain i will ring them.

I am trying to think if i have no show or waters break and pain is just not crippling yet then its bhs.

Yea same here but this pain is getting pretty bad to the point that I have been in tears a couple of times... but idk... its soooo hard to know

If its a diff pain than your used to maybe its real. the best thing u can do from home is time them, and if they are close, call your doc or go to the hospital. Even if its false atleast you'll know if u go in.

see for me i do not know i cannot tell where it starts or stops lol.

I went loo so it is not because i need to go, been drinking like mad so not dehydrated but same as with false one the pain is all over, with the back throbbing and period pain and same no other signs so still not sure rofl.

i wish there could be just a huge light which flashes which goes YOUR IN LABOUR hehe. Some people said to me

"you will know when you are"

others did not feel pain til they was told to push lol

Must be the day for it, I'm the same since early this morning. I'm in agony nag there is soooo kch pressure down there I feel as if my waters should go at any min iykwim it's a weird feeling. You would think being my 3rd I would know what to expect but on my 1st my waters went before my pains so i knew it was the real deal, on my 2nd I didn't know I was labour till go told me I was and was 3cm 1hr40mins later I was holding him.

I think contractions are different for everyone. I've gone into preterm labor twice and this is how mine felt(back pain with tightening in the front, back pain was constant). One of the best ways my OB said to test them to see if they are real contractions is to walk. Braxton hicks will go away with walking, real labor contractions will get longer and stronger with walking. Also, a warm shower will not make them go away but it will ease BH.

If they are real contractions they will get stronger and longer... How far apart are they? Xx

Wow I cant believe so many other poeple are experiencing this same thing today! Well after I made the initial post, of course they disappeared. But DTD and now feeling very uncomfortable when standng and having tolerable back pain and some discomfort in front with the contractions. I think Im going to take a shower and do some chores and see what happens after that!!

It is hard to tell the difference sometimes b/c BH ARE contractions; your unterus is doing the exact same thing, but if it isn't dilating your cervix, which you can't feel, then it isn't real labor. However, they can be painful, and can come frequently and regularly, but of couse real labor ends with a baby and BH doesn't. Don't hesitate to ring your MW if you're unsure.

I have heard, or read, somewhere that BH are not painful. Are they?
I'm not sure if I have had any, but, I've had lots of cramping sensations today, like period pain. My back pretty much aches, all the time, except the first 3 or so hours after I have got up in the morning!
I havn't rang my midwife about it as the pains are bearable, at the moment! x

Start timing them. If they are regular then call L&D they'll be able to advise you on when to come in. If they are not regular they are probably Braxton Hicks. But if they are coming in more than four times in one hour, call your mw or L&D as Braxton Hicks are not supposed to be regular. Stay calm and start writing down what time each one starts and how long it lasts. You can take paracetamol and have a warm bath to help relax you and ease the pain. Hope this helps. Good luck hun. X
