Punctuality

I am such a stickler for being places on time. Recently, I've been faced with a small issue.

I'm in a panto and the producer requested we be there at 7pm for the 7:30 start of the show. I'm totally fine with that. I usually get a ride or walk down with a friend. 50% of the time, he is on time. The other 50% he is LATE! Last night, he said that he would be at mine at 6:45pm to drive down (it only takes five minutes). And he didn't turn up until 7! The producer was sympathetic as he knows I'm not usually late at all, but when he spoke to my friend, my friend said that he would get there when he damn well pleased! To me, that is not on and very disrespectful. I was embarassed because everyone was there and I was late!

I don't know what to do. I could talk to my friend or I could just make alternative arrangements. Thoughts?

If you can't guarantee that he'll be on time, I would sort a different form of transport.

I wouldn't bother talking to him if that's his attitude - he'll do what he damn well pleases! I'd just take myself there, I don't like to rely on other people, especially unreliable ones.

Is there a reason why he is late?

If he can't guarantee to be on time I'd make other arrangements. From the way he spoke about turning up when he wants he doesn't sound like he cares much!

No, there is no reason whatsoever. Okay. I've decided that I'll text him and say if he's not here by quarter to seven tonight, I'm just going to walk down. I can't be arsed with his attitude anymore :growlmad:

i would tell him if hes not with you by the time said your going without him as you dont like to be late

my OH is always late... i now tell him if hes not here/ready for the time i have told him i go without him...
i always say 10 mins earlier than needed to make sure hes ready for the time i need him :haha:

I think that you're doing the best thing. I think its rude of him to turn up late too!

Hope its all going well!

Thanks BF :)

The panto is so much fun, but I don't need the stress of being late!

Ive learned there are 2 types of ppl when it comes to lateness.

Example: you need to be somewhere at 2pm and it takes 30 min to travel there. Both people are still at home at 2:10. Person A considers themselves late already but person B wont consider themselves late until its gone 2:30. I am a A kind of person and my oh is a B,its very very annoying.

Id try and find another ride.

I'd make alternative arrangements. Doesn't sound like your friend will be being respectful of the time you're meant to be there

Well, smallish update: I texted him saying I was walking down and leaving at 6:30. He was welcome to join me if he wanted. He said he would and he was sorry if he made me late last night. Hmmm, we'll see what happens.
