Hello,

My wife just gave birth to a baby boy on 11/22/2013. He came at 24 weeks and 4 days. He has been in the NICU and just recently had his PDA ligation surgery. Before the surgery we noticed that his toes were turning purple. He had a line in on of his legs and the nurses thought that the line may have caused his toes to turn purple. After the surgery for the PDA, we noticed that his toes were turning purple again. The doctor ordered a blood transfusion as his blood pressure dropped. Has anyone else had any issues with their babies toes turning purple? After the PDA ligation, how long did it take for your baby to get over the "hump" and begin to get better? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to you and your wife :hugs:

I have had 4 premature babies 34wk- 28wk- 26wk- 36wk ( had cervical stitch as I went in early labour at 17+7)
So I know exactly what your going through.
It's defiantly a eye opener seeing a prem baby there tiny body, lines, medicines, injections, scans, monitors don't feel alone always speak to your baby's nurse :winkwink:

My youngest two perms always had purple feet it's mainly due to blood circulation and constant blood test heel pricks etc..
It will go in time but if your still worried talk to your baby's consultant or nurses and they'll tell you what you need to know don't be scared to ask or discuss your baby's health your his parents..

It's not easy having a premature baby and you and your wife will have a long journey ahead, they will be good and bad days but in time it will get easier.:flower:
You and your wife need to love, care and support each other it will really put a lot of stress and pressure on you both but don't ever think your a failure it wasn't your faults why you baby is here early.

I hope your baby doesn't experience any of the premature problems that many do. my sons unfortunately did and I've been through so much but there's also the lucky ones that get through it with no problems.
Your son is a fighter just like many other prems and I hope all goes well .

You will probably be there till your baby's due date and in that time you'll have both good and bad experiences but always remember your baby takes the lead let him sleep, rest grow and be strong.:flower:

Don't forget you and your wife need to rest sleep and eat !!!
Your baby needs a strong healthy happy mummy and daddy

Take care and look after each other :hugs::hugs:
