Qs for those who've had Lap, hysteroscopy and dye

Hey Tansey

My experience is pretty much the same as the other ladies here...I had general anaesthetic and all I remember is the pin prick and then waking up in recovery - such a weird feeling!

I took about 2 weeks to feel fully better - everything just took longer to do (getting out of bed, showering, dressing etc) but all in all felt ok after 2 weeks.

Word of warning - I had a rather attractive blue bum (from the dye) and it was a shock for DH when he was helping me shower...we had a hysterical moment in the bathroom with him laughing cos he said I looked like I'd sat on a smurf and me holding my stomach cos I was in pain screaming at him...

tansey,

I totally understand what you are going through. My lap is scheduled for Sept 23 and I'm afraid that I'll chicken out. I am so scared of the pain and possibly what they may find. For those that had it done, is 6 days enough time off?? I am having it done on a Wednesday and want to return to work on Monday. Is this realistic? I had the hysteroscopy done - i think this is the one. The dye didn't pass ... dr indicated that my tubes apparently are blocked. He wants to see what's blocking them. I'm terrified.

I'm so scared .....

Oh you are the day after me - best of luck hun, hopefully i'll be back on here telling you how it was!
I'm not actually scared of the pain - I am scared of being put to sleep and the more I think about it the more I can narrow it down:
I don't want to be wheeled to the Op room awake, I'd rather be put to sleep while hubby is holding my hand and his is the last face I see.
Also little bit worried about feeling anything during the procedure but very worried about waking up again - I don't know, I just don't feel like a lucky person
My new extra worry is about my dignity - Obviously with what I am having done my legs will be akimbo with my hooha and tummy exposed and coz of the heart monitors etc I suppose my chest will be exposed too, so basically I'll be naked. I know this is of no concern to the docs and nurses and these are the only people who will see me like this but I just picture myself and cringe - I am such a prude :dohh:

 @ smurf
I have been warned about the dye - some people have said they had no bleeding but lots of dye seepage!

Hey chick, I had the chest monitors put on before I had my operation. They didn't need to lift my 'drape' to put them on, so I kept my dignity there. I'm a prude too  I made sure I was properley 'groomed' before going into the operation. If they were gonna be looking at my hooha, I wanted it to at least look pretty LOL I'm such a weirdo.

tansey ...
how did it go? I'm still in the recovery stage. Had a D&C, lap and dye done. Dr told me my tubes are open but i have endo ... i cried. i guess there goes my chances ... I've been so emotional over this. anyhow, he told me to come in and see him next week to talk about it.

how are you doing??

Just replied (briefly sorry) to your thread - not all good news for me either!
