Hi,

I will be starting on clomid soon and on day 12 they want me to go along and have a scan and bring with an injection they have given me, which they will use if the follicle is big enough. Is anyone else having this?

Hi:hi:

I've just been given a three month course of clomid - I start it on CD2 of my next cycle and use it for 4 days. Expecting :witch: anytime now. I haven't been told to go for scans and injections weren't mentioned. I have to see how I get on for three months, and then extend it for another three months if I don't get my BFP. Then its off to the clinic for more invasive treatments.

Sorry I can't be more help. Good luck. Hope it goes well for you.

:hugs:

Pixelou, yes i am going to do the same thing, i will start clomid this month as soon as af shows and then i will take clomid day 2-7 then day 12 go in to have a scan to see what my follicals look like if they look good then they will go ahead and give me the trigger shot to make me O right away. Good luck to you. I only have one tube and I don't have a good enough O on my own so that is why i am going this route.

Hi Pixielou,

I was prescribed Clomid 100mg last October. I took it on days 2 to 6 and then on day 12 I had to go for a scan to see if I had any follicles developing. I then had to take a trigger shot myself at home the following day, usually day 13 and then we had to BD the night after that and the following night.

I actually really liked being on the Clomid with the mid-cycle scanning as you didn't have to wait a whole month to see if it had worked and taking the trigger shot guarantees ovulation where Clomid alone doesn't. I was lucky in that Clomid worked well for me with no side effects and I fell pregnant on the second cycle but unfortunately I suffered a miscarriage in January at 10 weeks. I am currently taking a break from the Clomid but will be starting back on it around May/June.

Good luck to you. If Clomid works for you, it 'normally' works within the first 3 months.

Thanks girls for that. I'm not sure why they give some women the trigger shot and others not? The consultant has just written to me to say that everything is ok and as far as I know I'm o'ing. So guess I will just have to trust the docs! X:hi:

hi pixielou

I've not been told to go for any scans. I ovulate every month, everything is normal internally, DH's swimmers are okay as far as we've been told, but nothing has happened yet. I've been prescribed 50mg to give my ovaries a bit of a boost to see if that helps - otherwise its off to the clinic for ART.

Fingers crossed it works for all of us...

:hugs:

hi maz, whats ART?

ART stands for Assisted Reproductive Treatment - I think. As far as I can work out, its a broad term for either IVF, IUI, ICSI, etc. Cos they don't know why I havent conceived in over three years they don't know which type of treatment would be most suitable.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know how you get on with the clomid and everything else.

:hugs::hugs:

Snowflake, how was it giving yourself the shot!?!

Hi Pixielou,

It was absolutely fine giving myself the shot, I didn't feel anything. I injected into my stomach and that was that! Even if I felt dire pain I wouldn't have cared!
