Question about EWCM

Ok, dumb question, but does EWCM mean you ARE ovulating or you are about to ovulate (and if the latter, how long before usually)??

EWCM= egg white cervical mucous

most people get this before they O (like a day or two) all the way up till they O

some get it for a while before they O....some dont get it at all

Getting it doesnt mean that you WILL O....but it is an indication that you are about to becaue you body is creating fertile CM

I never have ewcm, and I ovulate normaly. I usually have sticky, creamy and watery cm. Watery is more common for me. Egg white I had only a few times in my life.

So I'll paste some of the info:

There will be little or no cervical mucous present the first few days following your period. The vulva should be dry. Lack of cervical mucous is an indication that conception is not possible at this time.

Early mucous begins just prior to ovulation. It is a thick mucous that is sticky and white or creamy in color. When subjected to finger testing, the mucous will break easily when you pull your fingers apart. As your cycle progresses, the cervical mucous will begin to look cloudy and will increase in volume tenfold. The cervical mucous will stretch further during the finger test, but will still break before your thumb and forefinger are stretched completely apart. There is a possibility that you could get pregnant at this point.

Highly fertile mucous occurs at ovulation. It is thin, stretchy and clear or pale white much like egg whites. It is often referred to as egg white mucous due to its resemblance. The volume of the mucous will continue to increase at this time until ovulation reaches its peak when the chances of conception are at their highest. It is the stretchiest mucous and can be stretched several centimeters between the thumb and forefinger before breaking.

That's what I thought about me, but then when I went swimming this cycle I found a whole glod of it (sorry for tmi ) along with ov spotting. So I guess either the pressure or the sea water helped bring things down? So you may very well have ewcm but not be able to see it (this is why my doc advised to stop obsessing about cm and go about my normal activity )

BTW You've posted before you're swimming quite often, have you noticed any changes on your cm on your bikini/ swimming suit briefs before showering?

Nope, after swimming it is watery, well not exactly watery but a little runny, it doesn't stretch. However I'm never dry tbh, I always have cm which is a good thing. I get ew discharge after intercourse, and it is not sperm because I've noticed it even when we have sex for fun there is ew cm coming out which is stretchy like glue.
Never had stretchy on my underwear and tp.

Well, watery cm is fertile cm anyway (most cm is fertile, creamy/ lotiony is fertile too)- and yes, me too, I find traces of ewcm after an orgasm, which I think I can tell is ewcm as it is thick, stretchy and glue-like (love juice is supposed to be thinner and snap back kind of immediately).

BTW I think I'm cleaning myself a bit too much, I do it every day, and I'd reckon this wipes out all traces for quite some time.

So I've stopped looking for cm altogether as it made me but have to admit I'm kind of glad when I see some on my panties- lotiony, creamy, watery, eggwhite any quality

I only started checking CM a few months ago and did spot EWCM for 2 months. This month I took a step away from this ttc malarky and haven't checked it. Because I haven't notcied any I'd almost convinced myself I didn't O this month (got to love the contradiction - not checking and then worrying because I didn't see any!!)

So can you be Oing and sperm friendly without having EWCM then? I thought that if it didn't go EW then it would be too sticky for the sperm to swim through and they wouldn't even make it into the cervix?

Hey, I'm 29! As far as I'm concerned, I think this is the perfect age to start a family- which is not to say of course that there's anything wrong with young mothers, it really depends on a person's attitude towards life and their surrounding circumstances.

I've decided not to go crazy with TTC either, so no temping or OPKs from now on either- I've found out it can cause me mini-hysteria

I've read all types of cm after your AF and until you ovulate is actually fertile, and I've also read that a lot of women got pregnant with other types of cm. Also, as my gyno indicated, ewcm may be there but you may not be able to observe. In fact, although many women find tons of it on their panties for some days in a row, in some others it may actually go away with urine in an instant. I would probably not have noticed it if it wasn't for that swim, which put my head to rest really, as I now know I don't have to see it to know it exists (and I don't mean that in a metaphysical way ) There are women that don't get ewcm at all, and have no trouble falling pregnant.
