Question about genetic blood tests.

Hello! New to the second tri! :wave:

I changed Doctors and when I seen my new dr yesterday he offered to send me to a lab that does the genetic blood test (i.e. harmony/Materni21 ect)......I told him I asked last appointment with the other doctor and was looked at like I had two heads. He wasn't very happy with that! I had already got the NT scan and quad test and he said that was a waste of my time, since I could have had this one blood test.

My question, and meaning to this post, is how long after did everyone that did these tests did you get the results?

I am 14 weeks today and hoping to get the test and results CLEAR and NEGITIVE for my piece of mind!

I am UK based and mine took exactly 14 days... so I wonder if your wait time might be slightly shorter? (since it took at least two days for the bloods to arrive in the US!)

Incidentally results still come back as a risk factor (ie less than 1 in 10,000) rather than positive and negative.

Hi I am in the UK. I had the gender blood test done via a geneticist at our hospital due to dd's condition. I had the test done on a Thursday morning and got the result back the following Wednesday.

I'm in the US and mine took about 10 days.

I'm in Australia and it took exactly 10 days (to send and come back from the US).

I don't think it's a waste of time as it's a lot more sensitive a test than those other tests.

I did the panorama text which is similar but includes a few extra rare genetic tests and it took exactly 9 days, I'm in the UK and it went to the US.

Thanks, ladies! I will be going tomorrow for the blood test! I can't wait to get that piece of mind for the rest of the pregnancy. I am going to request the Panorama test being that I found in research it covers more. (If they offer that one!) FXXX

I am positive for the cycstic fibrosis F508 mutation, so we will still have to have LO tested as soon as they are born, but since DS doesn't have it, the chances are that much better that this one will not also.

SO I can't wait for this test to be over and to get the anatomy scan mid next month....

Onto the next two weeks finding out the results! EXCITED and NERVOUS!

I'm in the U.S., and it took about 11 days to receive my Harmony test results.

Good luck I had the MaterniT21 with DD and it took 8 days. This one does come back as positive/negative, not a ratio as another poster stated.

I had panorama and it took 10 calendar days. Totally worth it! I agree the other tests are a waste of time!

Thanks again ladies! I got my test done yesterday and so now I just play the waiting game.

They did a very quick ultrasound and the Gentic Counselor said I may be able to find out gender, but the ultrasound tech just said "It's too early" booo.

One of my scans looks like a boy nub, and the other looks like a girl!

Too funny!
