I had an hsg done on Friday morning. I have to say I did find this extremely painful. The first part they insert that thing that they use for smear tests but I felt like I was being stretched a little too much as it was quite uncomfortable (although not painful) but I suppose that's normal. Then when I assume it was when the dye was being injected, I found that pain almost unbearable but it was only for about 5-10 seconds so manageable. I had bleeding after this which I was told to expect. But I'm still getting spotting now - it's not heavy or anything. It's only every so often when I go to the loo that I'll notice it (not every time). Is this normal or should the spotting have stopped by now? I'm taking antibiotics so I think it's unlikely I have an infection.

Hi Sweetie,
please dont worry...i have had 2 hsgs and both times i spotted for about 4 days...this is very normal and would not be due to an infection.
I hope this puts your mind at rest.
good luck with ttc !!!

I would have to agree with Twinkle...I had some bleeding and lots of pain. The dye gave me really bad gas pains. Everyone is different But it sounds like regular spotting from the procedure. Now if the bleeding gets to be severe then Please call your Dr....Baby Dust To All!!!

Thanks. That's a relief. No it's definitely just spotting every now and then but I thought it would only last for a day. Never mind. As long as it's normal, then that's fine xxx

I also had some bleeding and extreme pain, it hurt so bad I was scared to bd with my hubby.

sounds like they blew the balloon up a little bit too much hun, did they not ask you if it was comfortable? I'm sure the spotting will stop soon, hopefully its a sign they gave your tubes a real good flush out! xx
