Question about Lubrications and TTC

Ok, there will probably be TMI in this post...so sorry in advance for that..


I've heard the myth that some lubricatons can hinder you when TTC, the chemicals can cause damage to the sperm, and therefore lowering your chances.

Does anyone know if there is any truth to these myths?
We use KY warming liquid....Cause sometimes ya know, I just don't feel like doing all the work myself

Also, I've heard that if you use Saliva, that there are bacteria that can kill sperm, does anyone know if this is true?

Is there a safe lubricant to use.....one that won't decrease your chances???

All this stuff makes my head spin!!

With KY it is true, its not good for sperm at all.
There is a TTC safe lube called preseed, i know this is avalaible in the US, not sure for you for Aus.

I take a certain medicaton that makes me dry, so I have to use lubrication. The 1st month we used Preseed I became pregnant! Wahoo!!! Definitely worth a try

Perhaps this change will bring us some good luck!

We don't use lube because i've always been scared that lube might be spermicidal.

I know with AI'ing mares they have to use special syringes and lubes as the regular latex syringes and lube are spermicidal.

I hope preseed speeds your BFP along NeyNey

...just dont use too much of the preseed as there is a lot in each vile...or u could end up injured!

Lol. thankyou Carolina. From what I've read they come in single use viles, can you use a vile over a couple of BD's, or do you have to discard what you don't use?

I don't know for sure charlie, but i'm pretty sure it is for external use only. I wouldn't take the risk personally. Its pretty sensitive down there!

Is it safe to use baby oil??

Baby oil is petrolium based so it wont do you any harm unless you're sensitive to the perfume in it but it does weaken latex so it's no good with condoms..... not that theres much chance of anyone on here being worried about that!!

hey ney ney, just wanted to let you know i used preseed for the first time this month (am still waiting for it's success rate!) i thought it was good and hubby liked it too. there is quite a bit in the vile and it kind of tickles as it dribbles out after bd so keep a towel handy. i would defo recommend it though. it says to insert about 15 mins before bd to let it warm up but i just took one and held it in my hand to warm it up a bit. good luck
