How often should my midwife/doctor be examining me to check for infections etc?

My midwife only checked me on my first appointment but she hasn't since then. I'm worried I'm going to catch an infection or something and wont know because she never checks me. How often are you supposed to get checked?
I'm about to move states, so I'll be finding a new doctor anyways, but just curious.

I had a pap smear at my last appointment and they told me I wouldn't have another exam for a year. But at my dr's office every time I go they have me pee in a cup and they run it somehow and check for infections that way. I thought I may have a UTI when I was only like 10 weeks and I called a couple days after my appt. an they said the tests on the urine all came back okay. Not sure how midwifes do it though.

i have only had one pap smear so far. so im assuming normal. if you think you have an infection than they would check you.

I only had one pelvic during my pregnancy with Megan.... Until later 3rd tri when they were checking if I was dilated at all.

If you have reason to think you have an infection you need to bring it up to them. And then they could check you.

Yep, I pee in a cup every time to check for UTIs. Other than that, no vaginal exams -- I didn't even have one at my first appointment because I'd had my regular OBGYN annual so recently.

I have had one exam during my first appointment, including a pap smear.

I think this is only something they do in the US. In the UK they leave you well alone until you are in labour. Usually they can pick infections up through your urine sample. X

Oh ok! I feel silly for asking now
I do pee in a cup every time! :haha:
