i keep seeing breast pump quick wipes.

would you recommend them?

also, is the breast cream necessary, and which is best?

not sure about the wipes but ive read everywhere that lanisoh (not sure on the spelling) is the best cream!

Hiya- not sure if you can get the same nipple cream in the US but I have brought a cream called 'Lansinoh' in a purple tube which has been amazing.. after the first couple of days breastfeeding one of my nipples started to crack etc so the midwife recommended it to me and it has been brilliant and I would defo recommend it but you may be fine and not need it.. x

Lansinoh  is deffo worth having in! xx

i have a small tube of the lansinoh that came with my pump! i read on another post to start it 2 weeks before LO arrives? have you heard that? i was thinking of trying to stock pile some cream off ebay ;) but want to know if it was worth it! it doesnt hurt baby?

Perfectly safe for baby. It wouldnt do any harm to use it before baby arrives but I dont think it would do an awful lot of good either, its not cheap either so Id personally not bother! xx

I never used the wipes with my pump with my two kids abd I don't plan on using them this time either. I used the Lansinoh nipple ointment with my other two as that is what the hospital gave me for free after my kids were born. Don't stock pile as the little tubes go a long way and you may not need much. I personally wasn't in love with the ointment. It did it's job, but was very thick and sticky putting on and if your nipples are very sore it's not the most pleasant thing to rub in. I wore sports bras at night while I was breastfeeding and it stained them a little as well. Anyways, this time around I bought some reusable breast pads made from bamboo called bamboobies and they recommended a cream called motherlove nipple cream. Apparently this cream is all natural, soothing, and won't stain. I bought some off amazon as it was the cheapest with free shipping. I haven't gotten it yet, so who knows if I'll like it. If not I'll try the medela lonolin cream and then go back to the tried and true Lansinoh.

I never used wipes....to be honest didn't even know they existed! lol BUT Lanisoh is a MUST! I would not have stayed breastfeeding without it and the baby can suckle even after it's been applied and won't give him/her a bad tummy.

thanks for your input ladies! i bought some of the medela tonight, i saw it was all natural. so i will have one of that and one of the lanisoh and i can see which works best for me :)

I have never used breast pump wipes, I actually have never heard of them. To clean mine I washed the parts, and every once in a while I would boil the parts. I didnt pump exclusively though, I just used it to pump when I was engorged. But I say definitely on the breast cream!! Its so soothing, especially the first couple weeks. I used it like no other! Lansinoh Lanolin

do we have to clean all parts every time we use it? when i go back to work i will need it daily.

And the lanolin doesnt have to be washed off prior to nursings. Its safe for baby to ingest. I reapplied after every nursing early on, and then after that used it here and there.

Well, any parts that come in contact with breastmilk. Not all the parts do. Maybe 3 parts do- that includes the bottle. the bottle will take the longest to clean, so get extras. Get a bottle brush to clean the bottle. I have just a manual pump and there is one part you have to be careful when cleaning. Its a little piece that provides the suction. Read you manual and see if it applies to yours as well. It says clean with hot soapy water with your hands only..the other parts you still use hot soapy water but you can use the bottle brush. And get breastmilk storage bags.

i got the storage bags, and the bottles that can screw on to my pump... i have the first years mipump. i have 5 bottles that work with the pump. but i will probably use the bags pretty often too, especially for freezing.
