What was your 3rd delivery like?
I'm hearing mixed opinions- some say it's as unpredictable as your first, other say it's the fastest and I've even been told by my consultant that in his experience it is the safest baby to have.
My first was 5 weeks early and had all the medical intervention available!
My second was 3 hours from waters breaking till baby being born and I contracted for about 2 hours of that, pushed for 13 mins
Luckily I'm having a home birth but I'm curious as to what to expect with this 3rd delivery!!
What are your experiences?

I had to be induced with all 3 (all 12 days overdue)
My first was slow to start and I needed the drip to get things going. Labour was 6hrs from start to baby.

My second was 1.5hrs. I only needed a dose of the gel and then went into labour myself in the morning. I had a waterbirth.

With my third I had excess fluid so they had to get a consultant to break my waters (risk of cord prolapse) and as there was meconium they put me on the drip straight away as they didnt want to hang about. Things started straight away and after about 30mins they had to take me off the pitocin completely because I was contracting too fast. (literally every minute back to back)
From start to finish it was 1hr 44mins of labour, I remember promising the midwife that she would arrive before 3pm and she had told me she seriously doubted it, but out she popped at 2.44pm :D as far as the labour itself, it was almost identical to my second, other than I was on the bed as opposed to the pool.

It was also my only tear free birth! A great experience for me, although the midwife warned me beforehand that third labours can be very unpredictable!

My 3rd was my fastest. 4 hours in total from first contraction to delivering him. I delivered him naturally in hospital. My 4th was my longest, 7 hours. She was my home birth baby. My 1st and 2nd were premature (2nd was section).

My third was my easiest and fastest by far but I also had a home birth so I think that was a factor. I did have a lot of problems delivering my placenta though but I don't think that's a third baby thing, more a one of those things. Ds1 was roughly 36 hours with intervention 2 hours pushing 20 hours with ds2 just gas and air 30 min pushing and ds3 was 6 hours with nothing and 7 min pushing.

I found my second baby easiest.

My first was induced 12 days over and still took two days of contractions before my waters were broken then another 5 hours from
There!
Second hind waters popped at around 7 got to hospital with manageable pains at 8 had him at about 11.30 v short pushing phase no tearing.
Third waters started leaking at 2am followed by bloody show.. Contractions built and were regular and v painful by around 7pm he was born at around 10pm..active labour was put at 37 minutes.. Pushing phase was quick but the most painful out of all 3... He just felt so big and the pressure pushing down was awful. No tears tho and only gas and air as pain relief..
Hoping this one will be similar to my second!!

My 2nd and 3rd were 10 years apart and my 3rd was still faster and easier pushing than the first two. DS1 I pushed for 45 min. DS2 I pushed out in 3 pushes, DS3 I pushed out in one big push

Dd1 was born at 34 + 5 and was 90 mins from mild contractions /waters breaking to birth.
Dd2 was born at 38 +5 and no contractions, waters popped and she was born 50 minutes later.
Ds was a planned home birth,no noticeable contractions, waters popped and he arrived 26 mins later,26 mins after his due date!!

I kept hearing that your 3rd birth is the wild card and for me it was true. My 1st was induced, nothing happened for hours and then when labour started I progressed quickly and it took 6 hours start to finish, up to 8cm was very quick and then I stalled for a while and needed my waters broken to progress and pushing took a couple of hours so that extended things. My 2nd was spontaneous and I had a few hours of mild contractions before things really got going and then it was fast and furious again, I stalled at 8cm and needed my waters broken again. Pushed for less time but otherwise active labour was pretty similar, it was about 9 hours but only about 3.5 hours of it were hard. My 3rd was induced, again nothing happened in the day. As I was getting ready to sleep contractions started, just as with my 1st. They got to between 2.5-1.5 minutes apart and painful, I was checked and only 2cm dilated, not in labour just over stimulated from the pessary. I'd thought for sure that things were going the same as my 1st once those contractions started. That lasted through the night an the early morning until they suddenly kicked up and I knew I was in active labour, she was born 51 minutes later and my waters went on their own, no stalling once it started. It felt very different to the others; the contractions without being in labour, not stalling at 8cm, waters going on their own.

Delivery with my 3rd was by far the easiest. Very straight forward labor, and she was pushed out in 5 mins. It was so easy I barely had to push she practically came out on her own. And I remained tear free. Just a bit of swelling and a small bruise

Third was a vbac and utterly perfect. I guess contractions started 20 hours pre birth. But they very gradually built in intensity. I did have a traumatic haemorrhage post birth which is my greatest fear for my upcoming birth but the labour itself was textbook.

1st- easy induction with epidural- 7 minutes of pushing

2nd- just shy of 4 hours start to finish- all natural- 4 minutes of pushing

3rd- 16 hour labor- pitocin and epidural (went into labor on my own but was failing to progress naturally)- 2 pushes.

So my third labor was 4x as long as my second but the pushing was a cinch.

I was induced with all three of my babies due to preclamsia, first was nearly 7 hours 6 lb 8 oz, second was just over 3 hours 7lb 11oz and 3rd was 52 minutes nearly 9lb.

My first was around 5 hours with maybe 40min pushing and 2nd degree tear. Second was 2hr no pushing he just flew out! Needed one or two stitches. My third labour started and stopped for several days... Then the night before I had him I had contractions every 15 minutes all night and morning then they stopped when we got to the hospital. Contractions started up again that evening and I was in 'real' labour for maybe 1.5 hours and a few minutes of pushing. Third was the most annoying labour and most painful delivery. She was in a weird position facing to the side. No stitches though!

The third definitely sounds like the wild card for some!! I'm preparing for the worse and hope for a fast one!
