Question for those of you who have had a semen analysis done...

I had an appt with my OB/GYN today and she wrote up a lab slip for my OH to have a semen analysis done. She gave me a sterile cup but wasn't sure if that's what the lab wanted or if they would give me something. If you've had this done could you tell me what you did? I know the specimen has to be to the lab within an hour but did you have to use a sterile cup or did the lab provide anything? how long did it take to get your results back? Any additional info would be great, thanks!

My DH has to do the deed into a container with a screw on lid and then I took it to the lab within 45 minutes. The sooner you get it there, the better. I shoved mine up by jumper to keep it warm!!

My husband just did the test there. It was at our fertility specialist's office and they had a designated room/bathroom for it.

I think he did it on a thursday and I called on a monday and got the results.

We have to go to a local lab but have to bring the specimen. I guess the sterile cup should be fine it has a screw on lid. Thanks ladies!

Be sure to keep it warm. Snuggle between your boobs or keep it super close to your body especially if it is cold out.
