I've only been temping for 4 months, but I have never had what I thought was a temp dip before AF arrives - it sometimes drops 0.1 or 0.2 degrees, but never drops 'properly' (ie: below the coverline), until a couple of days INTO AF.

But I've just realised that maybe I've got the wrong end of the stick..
When people speak of a temp drop before AF, do you mean just a general drop (ie: less than it's been sitting at post ovulation), or do you mean a drop back below the coverline?

I'm beginning to think I may now stop temping once ovulation is confirmed - because my temp staying up above my coverline around the time AF is due, always gives me false hope.
But if I've misunderstood, and it's actually only a slight dip I should be looking for, then that would be good to know for next time!

Mine usually drops below the cover line. It's usually a pretty significant drop and I know AF is on it's way. Mind you now that I think of it, it did stay above the cover line last cycle. Lol. It's all so confusing, I haven't been temping long though. So I'm no pro ;)

I temped for years and let me tell you...I wish id stopped after confirmed OV! Even my fertility specialist told me its a waste of time.

Temping is good to determine ov but its pretty pointless afterwards as too many external factors can impact your temps. For that my specialist wouldnt even entertain my charts.

Heres an example...they tell you if you get a drop at the end of your luteal phase that af is coming. Well, my temps dropped below coverline when I fell pregnant with my son and remained under it for days!

Sometimes I think temping the whole cycle through generates more stress than is needed xx
