I have my 16 week midwife appointment tomorrow morning, according to someone i work with the midwife will listen to the baby's heartbeat...is this right? I am yet to hear it as they didn't do it at the 12 week scan so I'm very keen to.

I think it's different everywhere i didn't get to until 24 weeks with both of mine x

They have done at 16 weeks with both of my pregnancies :)

My midwife listened in at 16 weeks. My favourite sound :) x

My midwife listened at 16weeks but only after I begged her and told her I'd been listening myself at home from 10weeks on my own doppler

I heard it first at 20 weeks, but like, I'd seen it beating at 8, 12 and 16 weeks so it didn't make much difference to hear it, I knew it was doing it!

Well if she isn't planning to do it I will beg her too then lol. I have had previous early losses so it would mean so much to me if I could listen. It would help me relax and connect to my baby much more.
They seen the heartbeat on the 12 week scan but I have since then stopped my progesterone so would love to no all is still well xx

Yes listened for heart beat. Took some tracking as baby kept flitting around as they still have lots of space to wriggle! X

I had my 16 week appointment today and the midwife listened into baby. Lovely hearing the heartbeat for the first time x

Mine did and said baby was very well behaved because she found it straight away, pretty sure that's the last time she'll be called that!

Thanks ladies, it sounds like more of u got to here it than didn't. I will update in the morning xx

Two of my friends said their midwife listened in at 15 weeks. I have my midwife tomorrow also. I'm 15 weeks on Thursday but I've been listening in on baby since 10 weeks as ive got a Doppler at home. Hope you get to hear it :)

I was 24 weeks with DD and I suspect I will be this time also, since I've had my 16 week appointment. I don't mind though as kicking has started so all is good.

Where in the UK are you?
I'm south east and they listened at 16 weeks - well technically it was 15 - if she hadn't though I would have begged her to!

I think she listened at 16 weeks in my first pregnancy, but not this time. It'll be 24 weeks this time.

I can't remember when I listened to DD's heartbeat think it was when they started to measure me towards end of 2nd tri. It's such a heart-warming feeling though. I have no idea what baby's heart rate is atm either after 3 scans.

Well ladies... I didn't even have to ask she just did it :) very strong heartbeat and 147bpm. Perfect. I suddenly feel so I love with the little one.
Thanks so much for all the responses xxx

The mw didnt listen to the heartbeat at my 16 week appointment, but at my 22 week appointment they did. I think they still feel its a bit early at 16 weeks and that if they struggle to find it then it could cause unnecessary worry. A friend of mine asked at her 16 week appointment if they could listen to the heartbeat and the midwife agreed but did say not to panic if she couldnt find it.

That's exactly why they don't do it that early here x
