For all of you that have been here, I'm posting this in your forum because you'd know. I have plenty of newborn clothes and some 0-3 months--- WHAT ALL SIZES DO YOU THINK I SHOULD STOCK UP ON BEFORE LO IS BORN?

Thanks!

I always just buy any size... I shop all the time and look for deals and just think ahead lol... She has hoardes of clothing....

You are lucky, since your baby will be born in warmer weather you dont need as much. Lots of diaper shirts likely...

My lo is 4 months and still in 0-3 month clothing... so it really just depends.

you mean the sleeveless onesies, right?

yeah, i was thinking get a hat or two and some onesies, some pajamas, and a pair of sandals or two

Yeh it completely depends on your baby.... I brought mainly 0-3 months and 3-6 months before she was born but she was in newborn for agggess!!

It really depends....mine grew out of newborn in 2 weeks and by 1.5 months was filling up his 0-3 month clothes, he's in 12-18months for bottoms and 9-12 for tops.

I'd say you should get 3-6 months and 6-9 months, if your baby is on the small side then you could buy more newborn stuff when he/she arrives and the larger stuff would still come in useful.

good idea
i just wish you could know a few things ahead of time, lol

They don't make tooo much of a mess at first, so you don't need too many of the smaller items I found. Mostly sleepers and onesies. When they get bigger and drool and suck on everything then you need more. Helena was an average sized baby (7 pounds 6 ounces) and she needed the newborn for at least a month. 0-3 last quite a while.

good, good, good insight!
never even thought of the messy part!

I would advise buying more of the bigger sizes, as most gifts you will receive will be the smaller ones. London was in newborn for about the first 2 months, and is just now starting to grow out of her 3 month stuff.

See, we were the opposite. Colton never wore newborn and was out of 0-3 month stuff when he was 1 month old. Right now he is in 12-18 month clothes and has been since he was 10 months old.
If you end up with a bigger baby it would be the same. (Colton was 9lbs14) So I would suggest not stocking up on anything right now. For many reasons: 1. You dont know what size your baby will be; 2. Depending on their size (smaller, average, bigger) they will be in a different size during the colder months and if you bought say all 6-9 months in winter clothes, then you end up with a big baby who weres 6-9 while it's still warm all your 'colder' clothes will have been a waste. (if that makes sense).
I would suggest putting the money back for clothes, but not going overboard right now. Plus, you will have alot of clothes given to you as well!

Id just get a few outfits in all different sizes things like vests and sleepsuits are things you will need in all sizes as well. Im sure anything you buy will come in.

yeah, i'm not asking for any gifts, though, i want to buy and pick out everything out myself or me and DH but thanks for the advice

It really depends on your baby. Kathryn in just under 6 months and already busting out of her 6-9 month onsies. She's in the 95ht percentile for hight though. I'd get some 0-3 clothes (onsies, pants, sleepers) and some 3-6 month stuff (you don't really need to get a complete 0-2 year wardrobe before they are born, you need to save space for all those toys!). Also it's hard not to go baby clothes crazy, but try to hold off on buying too much until after your baby shower, you get tons of clothes from that (and tons of blankets!). After that you can see what you need to fill out your wardrobe.

You could set up a registry on babiesrus.com so that way you do pick out everything, and get what you want as gifts. You can also have gift cards on the registry. People love to buy gifts for the baby so it's a good way to get gifts but still pick out what you want.

It all depends how big your baby is really. Renah was in 0-3 for about 2-3 weeks and then went into 3-6 months for another few weeks, she's in 9 months now and she's only just about 4 months old. But she's EXCEPTIONALLY tall.

I'd buy bigger sizes because like someone said, whether you ask for gifts or not people are going to give them and they're gonna be small sizes. I had tons of 3-6 and under...I just had to go out and spend 200-300 dollars on a whole new wardrobe for her now in 9 months + cause she didn't have anything.

Think ahead! Also, I dunno where you live but now is a good time to buy a bunting bag on sale if you live somewhere where you'll need one. I bought a new one for her for 20 bucks, it was 50 regular price. Those things can get expensive! get one with the legs in it though, whoever thought up traditional bunting bags didn't consider car seats!

I would stock up on bigger sizes-Alexa never fit into newborn (she was 9lb1oz at birth) and fit into 0-3months for barely a month, and now at almost 10 months, she is in size 3T  Of course my situation is extreme, but I would focus more on the 6-12 month clothes-especially if your due in the summer. hope I have helped!

I would suggest getting burb cloths and bibs also... I only had 3 bibs and no burp cloths when James was born and he was quite the spitter. I would only get a few becasue your child may not be a spitter but do get the absorbant ones. They worked the best for me.

As far as clothes go... James was 10lbs and never wore newborn. Came home from the hospital in 3-4month. I would suggest sleep sacks, onsies, & socks 3-6 months. Cotton shorts (born in the summer) are nice too.

I would watch for sales and whenever there was a really good sale I would just go and stock up. When James was born I had a ton of clothes for the next 18 months. Found some jammies for .99cents a piece from a closeout.

Also stock up on diapers... if you are going with disposable. I thought I had months of diapers stocked up.. I didn't realize how much they go when they are really little!!!!!

 I had the opposite problem. Everybody bought big because "babies grow so fast" and I nothing for Helena to wear. Even though she is tall (in the 95th percentile now and in 9 month sleepers at 5 months) she was in the small stuff for awhile.

Get a bit everything- I thought I was getting a big baby so got a few newborn and lots of 0-3, when she was born people were rushing out to small baby stuff for us :dohh:, but she grew so quick I've just packed up loads of clothes with labels in! It turns out she would have been big if she'd stayed put. she's 99th for height and 95th for weight now
