Hi ladies :hi:
I recieved my letter confirming my scan next Wednesday.
It says on there that you should take someone with you and be accompanied home. I don't want anyone with me and want to do it on my own.
Anyone who has had one, can you think of any reason why I shouldn't go on my own? I presume I will be fine to drive?
Thanks girls xxx

I was grateful to have Mart with me as I was very dizzy and crampy afterwards. I honestly don't think I could have driven home. x

I did go alone as I didnt know I was suppose to bring anyone with me and my DH was working. They told me to sit a few minutes before going, but I was able to leave shortly after. I drove myself home and had cramps but nothing else.

Thanks ladies, think I will just see how I feel. If I feel a bit dodgy after then I can get someone to come pick me up. X

hi i drove up myself, DH come with me but he doesnt drive. Its probably because different people react different to it. they gave me a cup of tea afterwards and told me to sit for 20 mins before leaving, once i came out i was pretty much ok. good luck

My DH came with me but couldnt get parked so he drove around while I had the procedure then he picked me up again. I was crampy but not that bad - nothing to prevent me from driving so he didnt really need to come. If its not a long drive you have then its prob okay for you to drive but I wouldnt want to do a long drive afterwards to be honest.

thanks, it will be about a 20 minute drive afterwards.
did you ladies find that you bled much afterwards or was it just a small amount? the info they sent was quite in depth which i liked, it totally explained the procedure and it says they will discuss the results with me there and then which is good! also they have said i can take a dressing gown with me if i want to! xx

You should be fine on your own. I had a broken ankle at the time so DH just dropped me off at the hospital door and drove round till I was done (nightmare parking). I didn't have cramps and only had very slight discharge - would have been fine to drive (apart from the broken ankle!) Good luck

ineedaseed,
You will probably be fine -- I think they say that just in case. I think some people react differently, but I just had mine yesterday, and it was okay. I took 800mg of ibuprofen and was glad I did. Near the end of the test when they were putting more and more dye in, I def started feeling more crampy. Last night and today I was a little crampy, too, and just sort of a little "sore" feeling, but bearable. I only spotted a little bit, and a little bit of the dye leaking, and it wasn't too bad. Hope all goes well with your test, and good luck!

i wore a pad there and had a few spots on it but i didn't need another one. nowt major. x

i had a good bit of spotting afterwards (wore a pad there) and the spotting lasted the whole day but wasnt that much in the end. The cramping was bad during the procedure but totally gone once the dye was out - I took 2 ibuprofen also. I had some cramping for the next 2 days but it came and went quickly so it was fine.

Good luck.

Hi ineedaseed,

I think the protocol here in Australia is really different. Mine was just treated like a normal scan - no-one even said anything to me about ibuprofen, and I went by myself and drove home after no problems.

I'm happy to report it went fine - it was pain-free and fuss-free. I'm glad nobody told me to worry about it beforehand, or I probably would have! I thought it was just going to be a normal scan, and so it was for me. But obviously everybody is different.

Good luck for yours :flower:

Hi ineedaseed

I had mine done a couple of months ago now, my OH went with me but in all fairness he didnt really need to. It was nice tho for him to hold me hand cos some parts of it were a bit painful and i cud feel meself getting a bit anxious the longer it was goin on.
I had some cramping afterwards but the pain killers i took beforehand dulled the cramps a bit. I was fine to drive home afterwards tho and felt a lot better than i was expecting to.

Good luck for urs xxxx

When I had my HSG, I went alone. So, I'm not sure why they'd tell you to bring someone unless they plan on sedating you?
