Questions about Clomid

I was talking to a friend of mine tonight and I think that I found the way to convince my dr to prescribe clomid but heres my issue! She just told me that most of the women that she has heard about took other things on top of clomid! Is this a normal occurrence??? I thought that clomid was a stand alone drug. If you do get prescribed clomid and they usually prescribe other things what do they prescribe with it?? Thanks for your help!!

It depends on your issue. I take clomid and then progesterone supps starting 1 day after ovulation. I have a friend who takes clomid and metformin.

My progesterone is for luteal phase defect. if I take just clomid or just prog I only get about a 9 day luteal phase, taking them together I get 14 days.

The metformin, I believe, is for PCOS.

I took Clomid and then when they did a ultra sound to see how many follicals I had and gave me a trigger shot to release the egg. But I have heard of only Clomid. I think it would depend on what the issue is.

PS. I was already ovulating and my cycles were very regular at 28 days and had already done OPK and noted that I was was ovulating a on CD 16-17 instead of CD 14. With that information my OB suspected it was something with DH sperm and decided to put us on Clomid (to produce more follicals for the sperm) and give me a trigger shot (to make sure we knew when the egg was released).

Whats a trigger shot? And they prescribed it for your husband???

I take clomid only - i ov on my own too and im on 4th round and no BFP so far!!!

People take it and then have IUI also so maybe thats what your friend meant.

Trigger shot was for me (it's called an HCG shot). To make sure we knew when the egg is released and know when to bd. the only thing DH was told to do was take L-Carnatine to try to increase the Sperm motililty.

If you know that you ov and know what day's you do and your pretty reg maybe he can suggest clomid until they do a SA on DH? Hey you don't lose anything in asking

I am on Clomid, second round 150mg. I O on my own, but have a luteal phase deficit. I start estrodal the day afer clomid to help with the side effect of clomid, which is a thinned uterus lining. Then I start taking progesterone vaginally, 5 days after I ovulate. I did an IUI last month and I too had a trigger shot. I hope this helps, it is so confusing and overwhelming. Best of luck!!!!

Thanks you guys!! DH won't go in to get tested so I am trying to do as much as I can on my own! He is thinking soon he might go in but I really don't think he will! My dr is super awesome but she has been wanting to wait a while longer before she prescribes clomid!!
