Hi wondering if any ladies can help me.

We've been TTC for 2 years in November. At first we were not trying not preventing and then after that seemend to not be happening we bought a CBFM which we had been using but I Went to my doctor for some advice, who told me bascially to have a break from it all, try not to stress and see how it goes.

So its now October and I've just started my period! I've actually been really good not stressing, not looking and not bothering. We've recently been on holiday and we spoke whilst there about going to the doctor when I got back.

So here I am again. I'm 28 my OH is 32 and I'm don't want the Doctor to just send me away again.....I'm going armed with my calendar to show all my dates etc. My periods range from 26-40 days and my peak days when using the CBFM ranged from day 14-15, 19-20, 22-23?

I'm just confused and feel like i'm back to the beginning again :(

Any questions/ideas/thoughts you ladies would recommend would be much appreciated.

Hey Alice62 - yes you are doing it right, be armed to the teeth and just throw everything at him possible.

if you can print off your temp charts, highlight the cbfm readings too - make it easy for them. If you've also had any blood tests, emphasise this, I would also point out you have been ttc for 2 years, yes some of that was ntnp but stress the point it's just not happening and the longer it doesn't the more stress incurs.

I told a porky to my doc, told him we'd been trying a year when it had only been 9 months. I went in with a determined head - took all my cycle lengths in, I think I took all my vits too but didn't need to show them, stressed to them about having all the blood tests done and he just sat there and said "ok, so what would you like us to do for you then" I said FERTILITY SPECIALIST PLEASE!

If he turns you away it might be worth going to get a 2nd opinion from another doc.

oh one more thing just make it clear the reason for the appointment is that you want to do everything you can to be as proactive about ttc as possible, so if he turns you away make sure you come out of the docs with new tips and things to try at least. :)

Hi wishingalways I am in the UK.

Tanzibar83 thanks for your reply.

Well I went to the doctors armed with all my info and saw a really lovely lady who agreed my periods seem to have a 5 week pattern rather than the usual 4 and also that some times its 6 weeks and sometimes 4. She has given me all the blood test forms so have to have one done on day 2-5 of my period and then again on day 28 rather than 21 (she said it was hard to pick a date for the second test with my periods being so irregular) and then my OH has to go get his semen analysis which has him petrified I think (even though he knows its worked before, he has a son from a previous relationship). Then we have to go back with our results and she will see from there whether there is any need to refer us.

I'm not quite sure he understands sometimes how upsetting it is every month when my period comes I just feel like im letting him down every month! I thought i would feel relieved going to the doctors but now i feel more upset than ever and I think if someone else tells me they are pregnant i'm going to just go and hide away forever!! It seems the majority of my friends just have to look at a man to get pregnant :(

Sorry for the rant having one of them days

Hi Alice, thats fantastic that the ball is rolling, its all very nerve raking having to wait for results, I feel for you, but hopefully everything will be fine. One thing i will say is dont let the doctor fob you off by not referring you. We had all the tests done at the docs and everything was absolutely fine so we were classed as unexplained infertility and even if the tests are all fine you should be referred because of the amount of time you have been trying. It varies for different ages and probably for different areas but try and find out what the cut of is. For me I was 26 when we started trying and we had to try for at least 2 years before being referred, and then once we were i had my tubes checked and then put on clomid so that will be your probable next step.

Hope everything is ok and i keep my fingers crossed for you. xxxx
