Evening ladies

Hope you are all well!

This is my first post in here and our baby is not here yet but we have a quick question and as always, BnB is my first point of call!

How many bottles would you suggest we buy for when Squiddy arrives and in what sizes? We already have a few 4oz ones.

Sorry if it is a silly question, this is all new to us!

I have 8 larger 8oz bottles and 3 4oz bottles. Worked out perfect for me as I use a cold water steriliser that holds 4. I use the smaller ones for his water so they're not wasted. I would say you need at least 6 as most sterilisers take 6 and a then you'll not be constantly washing and prepping.

I would like to once again recommend Mothercare Steriliser Bottles.....they're brill and really useful!

I have 6 large bottles, Tommee Tippee closer to nature ones and 4 small ones. I use two cold water sterilisers because we bought one and was given one but it only takes 15 mins to sterilise so real easy.

Hi,

We found the 4oz were 'outgrown' pretty quickly, and use the 9oz ones.

They are handy at first, 'cos LO's are so small, I felt like I swamped Evan with the big bottles when he was new born.

We have 6 9oz bottles, and sterilise the lot once a day (Evan feeds every 4 hours).

Good luck x

I had 5 9oz ad 2 4oz but he didnt seem to take to the teats on 4 of the bottles.... So yesterday i bout 3 more 9oz bottles with the teats he likes.

So im using 6 9oz bottles now and i just sterilise as and when i need too. (cold water steriliser) The 4 other bottles i have will be kept for water ect when hes a bit older.

I think 6 is a safe number to have :)

We have 4 Dr Browns (a godsend for windy babies!)
If hubby wasn't steralising them we would have 6.
You don't need many of the small bottles cos they soon move onto larger amounts.

Which type of bottle is down to which you baby gets on with better.
We started on the Avent anti colic but Abbie got so much wind with them we invested in Dr. Brown.

We bought the 8oz ones straight away, our LO was a bit of a piggy and we wouldnt have got the use out of the smaller bottles

Thanks ladies :hugs:

We got an Avent Microwave Steriliser and it had a 4oz bottle in there and I bought some off a lady on here just to have some incase we needed for a few weeks.

I didn't, and now definately don't, plan on buying any more of that size so will now get some of the larger Avent ones. If they work for us great, if not, we'll soon find out and can invest in some more suitable ones! We are still not fully decided how the feeding is going to pan out so it is all guesswork at this stage and planning for any eventuality!

Have a lovely weekend everyone xxx

I know I'm a little late posting but we use eight Dr Brown anti-colic bottles at home and that works well. Our steriliser can fit four bottles at a time so we rotate through them and know we will always have at least four clean ones ready to use.

We also keep four of the same bottles at my mums house so it's easier for us when we stay there, we take a couple of ours with us.

Feeding time really seems to come around very quickly and I found that having less bottles made it so much harder.

But I really wanted to recommend anti-colic bottles, I wish I had used them from the first time we started bottle feeding as we had weeks of struggles before we had Dr Brown recommended to us.

Joseph was very sicky and suffered badly with colic and reflux right from his first breastfeed in the hospital and when we changed to bottles we used the Cow and Gate Comfort First milk to try and help but we just couldn't find the right bottles. The Dr Brown ones helped immediately.

I wouldn't buy 4 oz bottles - their a waste. The baby will be out of 4 oz bottles within 2-4 weeks if even. Stick with bottles that go all the way up to 10 oz and buy at least 6-8 of them. The more bottles you have the better.
