quick question (honest its a quickie!)

when yr LO gets efficient at emptying a boob how long does a feed take?
im asking this because yesterday my OH took violet for most of the day only bringing her to me for feeds and although she went 4 hours at one point beteen feeds, when she was given to me she only drank for 3-4 mins before seeming satisfied and wanting to get off or falling asleep (im trying hard to stop her doing that so am taking her off the boob and walking around with her, changing her etc rather than letting her sleep), my boob didnt really feel empty after her feeding, so i would put her back on the same boob within the hour then offer the other next time.
does she just have a really small tummy? anything i can do to get her to take more food in each sitting? i thought 4 hours gap she would be starving!

They get very efficient after a little while. She will let you know if she's hungry don't you worry!

as they get older they get quicker but every babies time ratio varies. we went from 40 mins to 20 and now we on solids it's about 10.

remember somedays aswell, they're just not as hungry as other days just like us.

thank you for the replies, yes i had a lovely day doing uni assignments (only 8 more to do by end of july!) but as always being a sunday everyone decides to visit! so didnt get too much work done, but hey ho.. my best friend visited to tell me her news shes pregnant!!! only 4 weeks im like the 1st person to know, shes 37 and single but been seeing a very close mutual friend who is really supportive, im so so happy for her, not planned obviously but shes over the moon as was worrying about whether she would ever have one and is super broody!!

Demand feeding is just that - no need to try to get more down her! Like Lil' said - she will let you know if she needs more - follow her lead

thank you! i was just worried that she cant take a full meal because ive always let her fall asleep on the boob so she never really gets full and then wants more an hour later?

sorry to ask all these really obvious questions, im just really struggling with the nights, its nearly every hour sometimes.. its like she uses the boob for sleep not food and goes mental if i deny her it..

If she's nodding off you can try taking her off and winding and changing her. Even if she doesnt NEED changing strip her clothes off and then re-dress her. This should rouse her a bit (maybe even piss her off slightly ) and then you can stick her back on the same boob and she might take more.
