I have irregular cycles today being CD55 (well CD56 since it is after midnight). I have read lots of good and some not so good stories on here about Agnus Castus helping to regulate, I thought what harm can it do and went to Holland and Barrett to buy some, I had my Pregnacare Conception tablets in my hand aswell at the counter, the lady serving me asked if I were TTC and I said yes, she said that its just because Agnus Castus is used for Menopause so I told her all the stories I had read up about on the internet and she told me she had never heard of it being used for that and would strongly suggest not to take them although it is entirely up to me, she opened the packet and took the leaflet out and pointed out to me were it said on it "not to be taken if pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to become pregnant"

Please help because i am really confused!

P.S. she was a really nice lady and seemed genuinley concerned and willing to help!

Hi, sorry I cant help with that but i too have irregular cycles (only 2 af's in almost 6 months) and have done a little research on angus cactus, I too thought it could be used to help regulate cycles so i would be interested in what other people say.

NO hun don't use anything you read on internet. especially if it tells that in the leaflet.
I'm soo against taking anything like that based on advice on internet. It may do more harm than good. Just ask your doctor what you can do about your long cycles.

A lot of women on here have said that it helped with their cycle. Right now I am on 40 mg/day (a low dose) of it since cd6 (I'm on cd41 right now). It hasn't necessarily helped so far, but I have extremely long/irregular cycles so who knows? I started taking it for my luteal phase which was only 5 days last cycle, and I'm also taking a B50 complex. I'll probably up my AC dosage next cycle (to 400 or 800 mg/day) and my vitamin B dosage (to a B100 complex) when the bottle is finished.

From what I've researched agnus castus is supposed to stimulate your pituitary gland which in turn regulates the hormones the way it is supposed to. Research it more and make your decision based on that. I decided to go ahead and do it since I haven't been trying for at least a year and the doctor probably won't help me until then anyway. I figure I can't screw my body up worse than it is already...

I've been taking Agnus Castus for the last 6 weeks. I have long and irregular cycles and had a problem last October when I bled very heavily (2 ULTRA thick pads had to be changed every half hour) for 10 days. I was told by my GP that it was either a burst cyst or an early miscarriage that they could not ditect. They did a load of blood tests and found that I had stopped ovulating but refused to do anything until we had been trying for a year. I was just told to go away and come back then.

Didnt have AF again unitl I had been taking AC for 4 weeks.

From what I can tell... and I posted on here to ask the question not long ago... you can take it up until the point when you might be pregnant. I'm going to take it until I get a +ve OPK result and then stop. If AF arrives then I'll start taking it again. Apparently the reason is that the tablets increase your progesterone levels and this could be dangerous when pregnant.

So far I have found it brilliant. Like I say I had no AF for months but was still getting all the symptoms... grouchyness, sore BBs, nausea, bloatedness etc and it kept getting worse month on month. It was like it was all building up inside me.

I've been taking Premherb. They have it in Boots.. its a pink packet. Its a fairly low dosage (4mg) per tablet and you are only supposed to take one a day but I feel so much better. As for success getting a BFP... who knows... I'll keep you updated!

Thanks everyone for replying! I did ask my GP yesterday for something to jump start my AF and he said NO!! I asked him about this and he said NO! I think that he just likes to be as unhelpful as possible! I really don't know what to do!

MrsD - I hope we both get a little help and advice

Monalisa - I know its the fact that it says that on the leaflet that is scaring me!

Nevernormal - My GP had the results of my General blood tests and it appears I have an underactive thyroid which is fed hormones from the pituitry gland in the brain, I see you mention this above so yes I think I will have another hoke around the internet.

Ramie80 - sounds very very hopeful, it looks like it is def pointing you in the right direction, please keep in touch and do let me know how you get on.

Good luck everyone waiting for our BFP's

I havent heard alot of results from the A.C. but I do know I have been told not to take it after ovulation. I started a B6 supplement this month bc my Cycles have been insane. I was 37 days in Feb, 31 in March, 29 days in April. My #1 issue has been my 10 day Lp's. I heard if you are trying to regulate your cycle lenghts, B50-B100 complex are a great place to start. hth
