Random WTC payment

This morning my OH has received a working tax payment of £15.. His normal payment isn't due for a couple more weeks yet and I've not received my renewal pack or made any changes.

Does anyone know what this payment could mean? I've only ever received random payments when I've made changes in the past. (Last year was my first year claiming tax credits)

they seem to do that around this time. We got a letter sayign that any overpayment had been deducted from what we would get his year, and when I spoke to them when updating they said random payments are the norm.
