Does Raspberry Leaf tea or capsules have any effect??? I see people buying them from my shop all the time but no feedback afterwards to say if they think it made a difference.

There's a thread in 3rd trimester on this and EPO. Loads of feedback from people :-)

I think RLT did make a difference for me. I didn't push until he was crowning, pretty much. My body just gently and efficiently moved him down. I also went straight into proper, full-on contractions, though that may have been because my waters went before I went into labour rather than cushioning things for a while. I thought it was a bit harsh that I didn't have the slow build-up I was expecting, but I spoke to a woman recently who was in labour for 6 days! and so I'm preferring my quick, efficient contractions thank you very much! I would drink RLT again near the end of future pregnancies.

RRL is just a uterine toner. I've drank it with all my pregnancies and all my pregnancies and births have been different.

I took it religiously and was induced at 42 weeks. Took two days of pessaries with contractions to get to 2cm and ended up with an emcs due to not progressing so not in my case although i have heard a lot of positive stories!

Third time I didn't use them at all and had earliest and best labour of the lot x

I SWEAR by raspberry leaf tea. Honestly drink as much as you can. I started drinking it around 15 weeks this time. I am sure it has shortened the pushing stage of my labours. I have never actually "pushed" the baby out either. It sounds weird, but my body did all the pushing, I really didnt try.
My first was pushed out in 6 minutes, my second was out in 5 minutes and my third was less than two!

Flubdub, that little insect in your sig freaked me out! I thought it was on my iPad :haha:

I had RLT capsules with my son and I had a brilliant labour, so I think it works for me :)

I did try the teat with my daughter but I kept gagging on it x

I am 35 1/2 weeks and have ordered some of the tablets. Can someone please recommend how many to take? Especially the ladies who found it helpful, how many mgs were you taking a day at this stage of pregnancy?

Thanks!

i drank 3 cups of rlt a day from about 36 weeks. i laboured at 39 +5 and pushed for an hour so dont really know if it helped or not! :-) x

The teabags generally don't work. But the loose tea can but you do have to drink a lot of it.
I drank the teabags with my son for a few weeks and then went onto the loose tea. Neither helped me with him at all.
I didn't really bother as much with my daughter - i only drank the loose tea - and my labour was much easier.
I do have a friend of a friend who started drinking RLT at 33/34 weeks and she went into labour within a week of starting to drink it. She was told when she had her second that she wasn't to drink it at all as it was the tea that more than likely started her off - second time round she went full term.
From memory they recommend that you don't start drinking it until about 35/36 weeks.

The tea bags are stronger than the capsules! The loose tea is the strongest of all three. The tea bags worked wonders for me. It has nothing to do with making you go into labour quicker - it shortens the length of the second stage of labour - the pushing stage. It will not induce you.

I was wondering this. I have a lot of false labour and BH at the moment. I am 35 weeks and I started drinking tea bags RLT from around 33 weeks. I never got these labour pains with my last two pregnancies . It has been worrying me that I might go early. I was wondering if the RLT might be causing them.

Guess I'm the odd one out.

My labor sucked. I started RTL tea bags at 33 weeks and increased it to 6 bags. Couldn't stand the taste any more so I switched to capsule... 6 pills a day.

Also used the EPO, both orally and vaginally.

I was in labor but wasn't progressing, so was started on pitocin. After 5 hours, they broke my water for me. Contractions became way intense after that, even though I was already on morphine. I was in so much pain, they came in right away to give me an epidural.

More than 24 hours later, of them increasing the pitocin three times, I started developing a fever and LO was starting to get stressed, so it ended in an EMCS.

:(

I will definitely be drinking some this time around, was going to ask my midwife when she recommends I start drinking the tea :flower: I've also heard that continued use after the birth works wonders on post partum recovery too!

Not really sure. 1st labour I took it from 30 weeks and I was in labour 22 hours with 1st stage (active labour) being 6 hours and 1.5 hours of pushing. Baby was back to back though so hard to tell.
2nd labour I did the RLT from 34 weeks and my labour was recorded on my notes as 1st stage 38 mins, second stage 2 minutes! Baby was in perfect position though.

I heard it helps increase milk production also. Has anyone else seen this to be true?

Took first time around from 32 weeks on I think as recommended. Went over due and ended up induction. Never bothered with anything second time around and natural labour over due. I think I am destined to go over due again.

It's supposed to be true but I have never drunk it after the birth however I may give it a go this time
