So, finally the day of my induction came. I was 12 days overdue with my fourth child. I knew I'd go overdue as I had with all pregnancies. But always thought I'd go into labour naturally!
I had 4 sweeps and was the same for all of them, 4cm, almost completely thinned out, the midwife was always surprised to see me still pregnant!!!
Anyway, arrive at the hospital, 11am, all very excited to get going! They did the usual checks and decided they would break my waters and see what happened from there. Except there wasn't room on the labour ward so I would have to wait. Well, 9pm came around, visiting hours were over, husband would have to go home. Was not to happy but, what could I do!! At 12:30am the midwife woke me to say a room was just about ready, and to call husband in. They took me down at 1am, husband arrived in time for waters being broken at 1:15am. The midwife said she would leave me for 2 hours and if not alot happened then they would put me on a drip. Well, by 1:30am. I was contracting well. Sat on a birth ball, breathing through them. They just got more intense and I was wondering how I was going to cope much longer. I buzzed for gas and air at about 2:10am but the emergency alarm had gone off moments after, the receptionist lady came in to say someone would be in soon but all free midwifes had to attend the emergency. Contractions were now soo painful and only 2 minutes apart I was so hoping I was dilating enough to go along with it!!! It seemed like an eternity but the midwife came in and handed me the gas and air at 2:18am. I said i felt moments of pressure with the last contraction. A few more and the pressure was constant, time to push!! So the bed was sat up, on i get on my knees, leaning onto the upright back and began to push! At 2:42am our gorgeous Son Quinn was born, weighing a hefty 10lb 6oz!! Totally unexpected size!! No tears or thankfully!!
He's now hours away from being a week old and everything has been going great so far, just so fast!!!
Thanks for reading!
