Any suggestions for reading books for my almost 6 year old trying to get her to read more

My six year old has been really enjoying the rainbow magic series. She's also currently living the faraway tree and roald Dahl books.

I used to take her to Waterstones every now & then and let her have a root through and pick one special book. Last time we went she picked "pirate dinosaurs" (which I didn't realise is also on tv) but she read that loads because she had picked it herself. Now she reads quite a lot we go to the library a lot so she can choose but it doesn't cost a small fortune!

I'm going to try my son with the horrid Henry books but there's the obvious ones Roald Dahl and Dick King Smith both do shorter books if you want something very traditional

Eta - ive just brought my son some flat Stanley books for his 6th birthday, our local bookshop does easy reader versions so he can read one and then the longer books for me to read to him

Depends on what reading level they are at, the biff, chip and kipper range is fantastic for youngsters , but if they are more advanced my daughter loves Enid blyton books, they were my favourites as a child and she loves them.
Or just go to your local library and see what they chose

My daughter likes the rainbow magic series too. And the one where different animals need help. It's got an animal on the front cover, not sure what the series is called but one of the, was "Max's story"

My daughter also enjoyed Claude, the dog who goes travelling. The dragons dentist too; she read that a few times

My daughter is neerly 6, she enjoyed the hatchimal novel, rainbow magic series, my little pony books (they have early reader ones in b and m for £1 each at moment, she also likes the holly webb animal books and also the fairy animal series.

Rohld dahl is also a firm hit especially matilda, lottie have bought out a book which im going to order (they make lottie dolls which are lovely)

I second the Horrid Henry books! My kid is obsessed!

Another one for the Rainbow magic series here. My daughter started reading them around that age and still enjoys them. Though she reads them so quickly now I don't buy them any more haha. I try to find new ones at the library though. She also likes Rescue Princesses, Secret Kingdom, some magic animal one that I can't recall the name of..... as you can see there's a theme going on. She enjoys books about fairies and magic and animals :)

All these books are super to share with children or they can read themselves.

The Owl and the Pussycat
Flat Stanley
Just So Stories
The Magic Faraway Tree
Her Mother’s Face

My almost 7 year old loves the princess in black books. Theres 4 of them.

Do they bring books home from school? My son seems to bring an overwhelming amount home, we can't keep up!

Mine does too but she seems more interested in the ones she owns and picks out herself. The ones she gets from the library at school are always ones she cant read and so we read those together.
