Have anyone found that ure LO's prefer formula out a carton to powdered form? My wee man seems to down ready made formula in about 10 minutes whereas it can sometimes take him up to an hour to finish a bottle of powdered milk!! He obviously has expensive taste :dohh:

We only realised this today as we were out for lunch and he has two 5oz bottles whilst we were out. At home its a hit or a miss if he will take the full 5oz and as I said above it takes him ages. We are going to start buying him cartons for his last feed at night in the hope he takes a full feed and sleeps longer, well thats the plan anyways :haha:

Yep definatly, mine always guzzled the carton stuff down!

Brooke has always had ready made but powdered does look thinner and more watery

The hospital has told us to have Carter on ready made until hes 4 weeks old its killing our budget but he seems to take it goood

We've never used powder. don't like the sound of the fuss of making it up. i'd rather go without luxuries for myself in order to afford it.

Can I be cheeky and ask how much it costs u a week? How many oz is ure LO on?

Is it true they take more ready made than they do powdered? Why is that?

I have never used ready made as Freya is on Wysoy and they don't make it. We don't get it on prescription either so it is expensive enough as it is!

Ruby takes 45oz a day so she might not be a good example! It costs £15 a week.

Sorry I posted before I read that bit! Our powder costs about the same as this, it is £9 a tin, and we get through at least 1.5 tins a week, sometimes 2. :(

Can I ask why this was?

At my antenatal class, we were told that it is safest when LO is tiny, as powdered formula is not sterile and is often hard to make up correctly, especially with a newborn with an erratic feeding schedule. We were advised to use ready made formula for the first month.

i used a lot of ready made coz i am arse lazy and found it much easier, cartons were about 50p each back then, and if i used 4/5 in a day i wouldnt consider that to be expensive -

do you guys get coupns in the UK? Here in the US you can sign up at the formula websites (our main ones are enfamil, similac, and good start) and they mail you TONS of coupons. I have carton after carton of ready made formula that I got for basically free...it might be worth looking into!

in the uk it is not allowed, it would be considered promotion of formula and they banned it :(

oh could not live without ready made formula - we spend about 15 pounds a week - which i dont think is that bad really. and we make up 4 bottles at a time n leave in fridge, which they say you cant do with powerd stuff :) life is much easier

Imi has powdered at home and ready made when we go out. I haven't noticed a difference in how she takes either :)

not quite sure but when i was in the hospital this is what they gave him i guess because you dont wanna mess about with incorrect measurments and what not maybe when there so young hard on there stomach and its thicker as well so im sure theres more to it than the powder. It was costing us 50 dollars for 18 cans and 1 can only made 2 bottles and with our babes eating every 1.5 no joke 4 oz it was costing way too much we have rent bills and car payments to make ready made formula is like a car payment a month lol we have since switched to powder and everyone is happier especially me and OH hehe

Hollie drinks exactly the same, as cartoon or powdered, but cartoon does seem abit thicker than made up bottles maybe?! xxx
