A couple weeks ago I changed Jasmines formula to a reduced lactose formula which seemed to help her colic symptoms. Though it didnt last, she was on it for almost 2 weeks and ended up with diahreah and would only eat little bits at a time and started gagging and spiting up more.

So i've put her on a Soy formula, the first night she was amazing, slept longer, and the next day she was very good too. We went to a welcome party for her and she slept the entire day, it was pretty warm in my OH's house.

So last night she did not want to sleep AT ALL!!! And today she has been really cranky and not wanting to sleep... :( Shes had little on and off naps, but not actual sleep.

Shes pooped 3 times so far, and its started going back to a yellowy color... but she has been a nightmare all day, screaming on and off and having been able to put her down...

I dont know if its because she slept the entire day yesterday and is overtired... Or if it is the formula... Or both.

Maybe she is just being fussy? There isn't always a reason for it

I dunno being awake and screaming/fussy for almost 24 hours is a little bothersome...

The health nurse at our group last week (the bit I was around for) were saying something about unless the baby is actually allergic to the lactose that a soy formula will generally upest their stomaches more... I can't remember the other symptoms and issues though and I am by no means an expert. They were telling us though just to try different ones until you found something that worked. I'm guessing that you are still using steralized water. I'm not sure what your guidelines there say but I found a lot less issues by switching to bottled water.

As Toria said though sometimes babies are fussy for no reason :hugs: hope you get to the bottom of it.

ya I use boiled water for making the formula... She has been a bit better the last couple hours though... so fingers crossed... Her poop is back to being mustardy yellow... With the other formula she was having runny green poop, which is why I changed it.

Glad to hear hopefully it keeps up

Ryder what kind of formula are you using? Concentrated or powder? I was getting ready to mix up powdered formula and the public health nurse came and I asked her first and she told me absolutely do not give her powdered formula + boiled water until 2 months of age because it has some sort of bacteria that upsets their stomachs. So now we're feeding her the concentrated Enfamil A+

Ryder, green poop is normal if you are feeding your baby formula with iron. It is not a sign of a bad thing, which I thought when I first saw it.

 Hope your baby settles honey!

Leanne, it was watery diahreah, and she was throwing up alot and was very colicky, which are all signs of an sensitivity or allergy.

Rae, actually I just started using the concentrated formula a couple days ago and I agree, it is way better then the powder.

She is doing way better, I spaced her feedings out to 4-5oz every 4 hours and this helped a ton too.
