Really getting me down :(

i find it really funny when old people give you funny looks for bein young and pregnant. we had this discussion at work, i'm the baby where i work, everyone else is atleast in their 30s. they were sayin 50 years ago, i'd have been married for years and already have kids, but for some reason its now not acceptable for young people to be pregnant!! at the end of the day age really is just a number, i know i'm more mature than my OH lol and he's 10 years older than me. most people my age are off at uni gettin pissed every night with not a care in the world.

good luck hun, you do sound like you're ready for it xx

I couldn't agree more with Alice&bump, this is something i say all the time! It's what i'm planning on writing my dissertation on in uni. A few decades ago it was the norm to have babies young. Now because society says that a career etc should come first those who have babies young are looked down on by the rest of society. I think if a person is mature and responsible and has seriously thought it through, financially and emotionally then why shouldn't they ttc. I also think that many underestimate teens and just assume that they only want a baby because they think they're cute and something to love. I don't agree with this at all as I'm sure all teens seriously ttc have thought about the implications and realise that a baby is a life long commitment and not just something cute to cuddle. In response to Blah's post i obviously cannot comment for all those on here but i know that for myself, (i'm not ttc for another few years yet though) i have considered the possibility of becoming a single parent in the future as well. I love how this thread seems to have turned into a debate on the pros and cons of teens ttc.

In reponse to the actual point of this thread i think it's wrong that your parents are attempting to emotionally blackmail you and i think that it would be a good idea to do as someone else suggested and just save up for a flat or whatever with your OH and when your finances make this a possibility then inform your parents that you're moving in with him, then when you feel like you've had enough time to adapt to your new living arrangements you can start ttc in your own time whilst living in your own place :hugs:
