I'm not sure what is up with my hips lately, but they only get really painful when ever I'm in bed. I literally have to turn over tons of times in the middle of the night because I can't lay on one side for too long without it getting really painful and then when I do lay on one side for too long and then eventually turn over, the hip I've been laying on clicks/cracks and makes it impossible for me to move for about 5 minutes. It's so annoying, I have to crawl out of my bed just go to the bathroom in the night ...is anyone else experiencing this?

It's ONLY when I'm bed, during the day my hips are fine, the only time they get a little painful during the day is when I'm out and have been standing/walking for too long but still no where near as painful as when I'm in bed.

It's something I'm definately gonna mention to my midwife when I see her next.

hi,

i've been suffering from this too - what helps for me is that i've got another duvet folded in 2 underneath me to give me some padding as i think my mattress was maybe too hard.

i also have a pillow between my legs - but it has to be between my thighs, knees AND feet for it to work.

hope that helps.

Thanks, I'll have to try doing that.

yup definitely try the pillow. My pain isnt in my hips but in the underside of my pubic region.

also, try a birthing ball to sit on when you get up in the AM. I discovered (after a few hours of shopping last night) that the birthing ball immediately took ALL the pain away!!! I got up this morning and plopped my behind on it again and POOF! no more ouchies :D

Mine started in my hips at night but now is in my public area and I have developed SPD....I can get around the house in the day but its sore, its worse at night and in bed:(

I was thinking of trying a birthing ball, but I was told at the counter when I went to buy it that I would be too heavy for it :|

Aw, sorry to hear :flower: ..My friend has SPD too and said hers started in her hips at night, I really hope I don't have it :/

I too have been suffering from this- hip pain at night- only when in bed and pelvic girdle pain the rest of the time

I get hip pains from lying in bed.....they're so stiff in the mornings I feel like an old lady! I guess its just the relaxin softening my joints for delivery. It has definitely got worse as I get closer to my due date. I put a pillow between my legs at night but it always comes loose :(

I've been bedridden for weeks now and have a physiotherapist that works with me to make my hips more comfortable. The key for me is to have TWO pillows between my legs. The pillows have to go right from the top of your thighs all the way down past your feet. You need to support your entire leg. Since I've started doing this my hip pain has almost disappeared. Good luck! :hugs:

You could be writing about me!! I am exactly the same.
I went to physio yesterday and they weren't terribly helpful but can def vouch for the duvet underneath your sheet and a pillow between legs but as someone said above thighs, knees and feet.
They stressed about my pelvic floor exercises, should be doing about 100 a day! It supports your pelvis which is just relaxing to the hormones. another thing I find helpful is before I move in bed, or from sitting too long is to bring my knees up to my chest as much qas poss and my hips click back in and not so painful, still sore but the cracking doesnt happen so badly. I also toss and turn all night so can def sympathise!
