Reassurance about my stinky cold!

Hi,

I woke up today with a stinky cold - headache, stuffy and runny nose, sore throat and sneezy! I'm pretty sure it's just a common cold.

I had my scan yesterday and was ecstatic to see little one bouncing around with a strong heartbeat at 11 weeks 1 day after two early Miscarriages. I thought having the scan would help me relax but now I have this silly cold and I'm worrying again!

I barely cope at work with the extreme fatigue and morning sickness so I'm staying home today in my duvet with DVDs and chicken soup!

From what I've read it doesnt seem like a cold will harm the baby but I'd feel better hearing from some of you who have had colds in the first trimester and have been fine!

I have one too at the moment, DS likes to share....ughh!!
You will be fine, just take plenty fluids & rest

I have one too, i actually suffer a lot from a runny/stuffy nose when pregnant, I think its a symptom!.

You can take paracetamol if you wish, just keep the dose low.

I've had a constant runny nose since beginning of my pregnancy. For the past two -three weeks i've had a tickly annoying cough, which now is finely starting to disappear.

Just make sure you drink lots of fluid and you'll be grand.

I've got such a horrible cold. Now in my chest and breathing is so difficult. I have bad asthma at the moment - the pregnancy seems to have made it worse and I have 8 spray tans to do tonight but I can't even get my words out get well soon x wish me luck

I'm having a bad sore throat myself and am hardly over 4 weeks. It just started this morning... i can't take any of the normal remedies i use! really tired. any advice?

Baby will be fine Pregnant women are always getting sick, our immune system drops so our body doesn't try to attack the baby. Which is good, but then we catch EVERYTHING!

Ditto, I have a bad cold too, ugh! Which is funny since I never get sick but now of all times lol. Hope you feel better real soon!

Hi stellar gaze, sorry you are feeling rough too!

I spoke to my midwife today and the only think you can do is have a hot drink with honey or lemon which is suppose to help soothe the throat, drinks lots of fluids and rest!

ugh im dieing with the cold i can barely breathe and i havnt hardly slept in 2 nights! try proppping your head up abit higher on an extra pillow it helps abit to not lay down to flat, im just a total mess today!
