Hi ladies, I just wondered when you all started to feel normal again after your c sections? I had mine nearly 5 weeks ago and I obviously feel better than I first did but since I've been home from the hospital I feel like I'm not healing. It's not my cut that's hurting its the area between there and my tummy button. I'm constantly having to take over the counter painkillers and notice as soon as they wear off. It feels as if I've made no progress at all particularly in the last couple of weeks. Is this normal? Am I expecting too much? Thanks in advance :flower:

It took me until about 8 weeks pp for it to stop hurting when I went from lying down to sitting up and things and I still had pain thriygout the day. Now 10 weeks pp I feel pretty much back to normal. My stomach still hurts to touch but I don't get pains when doing things.

Do you have your 6 week check next week?

Thank you, I've been reading lots on the Internet about people feeling back to normal within days and was wondering why I still felt rough. I have got my six weeks check next week I'm actually dreading my doctor touching my tummy the pain is that bad at the minute still - I had another attempt and getting the sticky marks off my stomach from my dressings and the next day my stomach felt like it was on fire

Hope you and your lo are settling in to a routine well

It sounds like you may be trying to do too much too quickly, I did this with Amelia and I felt like I was bruised around that area and had like stretching and stabby pains...can't remember when it stopped, but it was when I slowed down a little bit and took it easier xxx

Thanks you, I do feel like I'm doing too much but I'm at home with baby, my 16 month old and my 3 1/2 year old for most of the day so I don't really have a choice with most of it. I'm trying to change how I do things so I'm not lifting or stretching too much but there's times when I just have too.

I hope your fully recovered now?

Ouch yeah, my stomach is so sore to touch but it's the skin where the nerves have been cut. The only way I can describe it is it feels like bad sunburn. But the inside and pulling pains have settled.

Are you in the uk? My Dr didn't touch my stomach at all. Didn't even look at me! Just asked if I was ok. I don't know if they're all like that or my Dr was just really lousy.

I'm glad what I'm feeling at least seems normal! I am in the uk and was just thinking about my previous checks - the doctor always feels to see if my tummy muscles have healed but that was after two natural deliveries so maybe it's different after a c section

For me that wasn't normal, but I think I was exceptionally lucky and healed quickly both times. I felt normal by day 7 with my son and we were back to having sex etc by day 9 with my daughter so I must have been feeling well.

I think I was a slower healer too! I also had a 16 month old at home so I think that made it more challenging. I felt better about 8 weeks out. Be patient with yourself :) Congrats on your new lo!

I'm five weeks out and the area around the incision is tender to touch but not painful. I stopped taking pain meds at about two weeks pp. I still have a little pulling sensation when I get up from lying down. I feel like recovery went much better this time around as I had very little incision pain it's more just plain/tenderness around the incision. I also have a 16 month so I have to lift him frequently and was doing too much too soon. I would definitely try to take it easy and mention it to your dr at your six week check.
I'm in the U.S. And they have always touched my stomach at both the two and six week check.
Hope you feel better soon Hun!!

My incision wasn't even going to be checked before I left the hospital until I asked them to!

Just remember you had major abdominal surgery. For some reason it seems that C-Sections are taken lightly and many don't realize just how extensive it is and expect to be at their best right away. You will be sore for awhile. It can take over a year for it to fully heal on the inside. I'm 8m pp and still have some minimal discomfort while doing things. Some women have discomfort forever.

Part of my concern was that everybody expected me to be doing better already and it seemed as if I was being a drama queen by still complaining about it

With my son it took weeks and months before I was fully healed. I looked like a Zombie and very pale. Just take your time to recover. With DD I healed well although my scar did get infected, but I was driving with permission by the end of the week.

I was on pain killers for six or seven weeks because my right side felt like I was being stabbed every time I took a step. My left side felt fine oddly enough. But I also felt so dumb because two girls in my neighborhood had cs at the same time and both bounced right back as if nothing had happened! It was really demoralizing for me, but you've got yo live in your own truth and not beat yourself up. And for me, that sh*t HURT!
Try to take care and get help lifting your older two if you can. GL! Hope you're back to yourself soon!
