Recovery from C-Section vs Vaginal Birth

I've semi had both. My son was an emcs, due to being in distress and poop in the fluid. Last year I had a late term miscarriage where I delivered the baby (18 weeks gestation) naturally after a 5 day labour. I know things are probably much different when baby is full term and not small as an 18 weeker but I do know I am doing everything in my power to try for a natural birth with this one.

I had a rough time with my CS, it was 3-4 days before I was able to get out of bed without help. I needed to use the handrails in the hospital to walk because my incision was so stiff and sore. Took me 3-4 weeks before I could sleep comfortably because I couldn't recline to the full flatness of the bed. Not the mention that I got an infection and had my incision open up on me. It was necessary though and my son may not be here today had I not had it, but still, if I can avoid needing it again I very much want to try.

I've had 2 vaginal first episiotomy and forceps and second 3rd degree tear, both pretty painful to recover from. I'm having elective csection tiis time I don't see how it can be any harder than the vaginal after births I've had!

I am terrified of having a c-section. My doctor is talking about it because my little girl is already almost 7lbs and THey are treating me like I have gestational diabetes. I dont techinically have gestational diabetes but I have impaired fasting glucose where my blood sugar stays high while I sleep. So, they are afraid that because I am like borderline GD that he shoulders will be too large and that I will need a c-section. I am really going to push to be induced at 39 weeks because I dont want a c-section but I guess we will just have to wait and see.

But I have talked with 2 friends who have said that they would rather have a c-section after having a natural birth. So I just wanted to see what other ladies have to say :-)

We are having a big baby and have been told a big baby is not a cause for induction or c section. So I will be having (or at least trying) a vaginal birth. I would rather not have unnecessary surgery.

Ive had vaginal birth twice once with an episiotomy and once i had grazes and tore a little
recovery from both i would have said took about 2 weeks but when we are saying recovery from a vaginal birth i would imagine its totally differant than recovery from a section

also differant things effect differant people in differant ways

personally dnt think id every opt for a section but thats just me

I do feel sorry for those women who go through hours of labour and then have to end up having a c-section after all.

Talk about the worst of both worlds

I wouldn't ever choose to have a c section. With my son, my waters broke and it'd been 22 hours and I didn't progress enough. They had even tried pitocin to get things going. My contractions were very strong and my sons heartrate began to drop with each one so emerg section it was.
It was a horrible experience for me as I was not emotionally prepared for it. Didn't see my baby right away as they wisked him to a room to check him, but I heard his cry. They brought him to my hubby who held him beside me while i was closed up. After that baby came with me to recovery and I was able to breastfeed him quickly.
The pain didn't return until later in our room, once the dope wore off. You cannot sit up or turn to the side without help for a good couple of days, then you can turn to side to get up but it feels like you are ripping open, even though you aren't. It's a crazy sensation. Thank god we had a private room and my hubby helped do everything, including changing every diaper the first couple days as I couldn't move much. For about three weeks I wish I had a bar above my bed to pull myself up. It subsided and got easier after that.
Not trying to scare anyone, just my personal experience.
This baby we are trying for a natural again but they have to monitor closely due to previous section. I have to go into labour on my own (no induction) as chances are better that way.

Hopefully I can go naturally and no section for me, I didn't try either yet but I really want a vaginal birth, I'm a woman and I don't want this to be taken away from me! Our bodies were created to do this! Just like you carried this baby for 9 months with all the pain associated, you can have it naturally! My advice is if you really wanted a vaginal birth to definitely try all you can to have it!

Your doctor doesn't seem to have a good reason.
