Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Was that in pregnancy Mrs R? I honestly think that outside of pregnancy is pretty irrelevant and even from pregnancy to pregnancy it can vary so that's why so many obs/recurrent miscarriage specialist are happy to give it out without testing. I would go with the cream, it can't harm.

My docs haven't even checked my progesterone level. Luckily here in Turke you can buy it off base. I'm taking 200mg once at night orally on my own. Doctors nurse wanted me to stop taking it - but didn't even consult with the doc so I told her no.

No Tasha it was on CD 21 of my last cycle. I wasn't pregnant. My doctor doesn't want to prescribe me progesterone because she said my body is producing it normally. So I'm worried to use the cream, but I don't know. I'll read some more about it. I do have my blood clotting disorder, so that worries me with using a hormone especially when my doctor doesn't think it's necessary. I hate wondering if I should or shouldn't do something.

Mrs R, I've not seen any negative research about taking progesterone. There is no harm to baby and plenty of women with clotting take progesterone. In fact, the progesterone-only pill (mini pill) is the only one safe to use if you have a clotting disorder.
Also, the cream is pretty weak. So, take it if you want from after ovulation until the end of third tri but don't worry about it causing any harm if you don't really need it. Or go with the flow. Get pregnant and then get tested. Flip a coin perhaps? :winkwink:

so update again. I got my progesterone pills. I guess they thought it would be better than injections. So I am excited to start testing on monday. I got my 10 miu pregnancy tests today. I am holding off till monday to start testing as I am only 7 dpo.

Dsemcho - thinking of you!

MrsR - I was tested for progesterone in every pregnancy and it was about 13 ng/ml in my first which they told me was low end of normal. It dropped to 8 in a subsequent draw and I miscarried when it dropped to 2 the week after that. In the following pregnancies it was 26 and 23ng/ml which I was told was perfect but they put me on progesterone anyway (prometrium pills which I took vaginally). I was told even though it doesn't seem I have a progesterone deficiency, the supplements won't hurt and may help if my progesterone is dropping. I will probably go on them again in the next pregnancy.

2k - glad you got the progesterone, FX for you!

My follow up prolactin test was normal so I guess the original test I was having a surge for some reason. So that's not a concern anymore. Thanks for weighing in on it ladies! Still haven't gotten a chance to sit down with the doc to discuss my MTHFR diagnosis because they want my DH to do a semen analysis (and we're opting out for now since he doesn't seem to have issues getting me pregnant). Hopefully they'll let us make an appointment without it!

I hope you get everything figured out. I have not heard of the mthfr. What is that exactly?

sending good vibes your way

Gonna pop in on the progesterone topic. Mine was 13 on cd21 and the doc called it low and put me on it. But my doc is a bit of a bafoon at times. I'm thankful to have it as it can help but not hurt. MrsR, I might research the cream more sounds like it can't hurt.

Have any of you taken it anally? I did last cycle tmi and the discharge was way less as in non-existent. Everything I find said it's equally effective. Just curious if anyone tried it that way?

My professor recommendations that way as he says it is as effective but none of the risks of irritating cervix etc. I don't but I know there are girls on here who have.

Good to know!

no mess and defo no smell that makes you want to heave :haha:

Yeh you're who I though of but didn't think you would appreciate me sharing it :haha:

2k - MTHFR gene mutation keeps you from properly absorbing folic acid (very important for pregnancy) And also makes you more susceptible to blood clotting.

MrsR - yes the 13 progesterone was in my first pregnancy and the test was done at about 5.5 weeks.

Did the progesterone lead to that adorable bundle of joy in your profile? I prefer the back entrance for that very reason but thought I was weird lol. It's awkward but easier to deal with.

oh dang. sorry to hear you have that. seems like a pain

I took a lot of meds to get that bundle of joy cutie, progesterone included

He was only 27w, I had a placental abruption and we had to switch his life support off two days later

Xxx

Definite hugs. We're all such a strong bunch of women.

I started my progesterone the normal way and then started getting spotting... so tried switching to the other way and my spotting stopped!
