Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Isn't it funny how the men refuse a happy delivery while we regularly undergo dildocam investigations, blood draws, even general anaesthetic...

 so true.

Matt really moaned about his bloods he had taken (karotyping etc) and expected sympathy :nope: :haha:

That made me laugh pip.

I've been put to sleep 4 times now, endless dildocams and blood draws too

Xx

Hi ladies,

I hope it's okay for me to join you. I'm currently going through my 3rd miscarriage in 3 years. This one has been full of medical intervention and is still not finished, since my body has not managed to clear everything out, so now it's surgery to finish the job so to speak.

I honestly feel like I'm going crazy with everything that's happened to me this year.

I'm in the US and my dr said since my losses were happening consistently between 7-9.5 weeks and we saw a baby & hb, the issue was with me not DH so we've never had a sa done on him. Never did any bloodwork either. The dr said the losses were most likely hormone-related and prescribed progesterone.

Broken-sorry for your loss and especially sorry that it's dragging on like this. But the ladies on this thread are amazing. I still hop in once in a while even though I've technically 'graduated'. Have you had any testing done to see why you keep having losses?

You mentioned you graduated. Did the progesterone help? I can't make it to 5 weeks. Had 3 losses and I've never been tested for progesterone except after my last BFP and it was at .8

Broken, I'm glad you read my advice and joined us, although I'm sorry you have to :hugs:

Will Drs be offering testing now?

Hi everyone

I've been told if I go to my gp then I can be referred to a specialist in recurrent miscarriages. But right now, as I'm booked in for another surgery on Friday, it's way down the list. I want to get past this last two weeks & recover from all the intervention, that has left me in so much pain it's unreal. Not to mention took me from my son for an entire week.

:hugs: to all

Garfie, I agree with Petipas.

I ovulate anywhere from CD 8 - 11. In all honesty I was messing around with soy iso's when I conceived in my 11th pregnancy, I heard it worked like Clomid and there are a few threads on here about Soy, I def think it shortened my cycle by a few days too. I am 41 and have fallen pregnant twice this year, 1 was ectopic and the other I lost at 9 weeks so not sure about the whole egg quality thing. You could also take CoEnzyme Q10, I was also taking this to help with egg quality. Just a thought, sorry for your loss hun xx.

Broken, welcome. Sounds like you are having an awful time right now, so sorry everything is so drawn out, it was the same with my first ectopic pregnancy, the waiting is terrible, hugs xx.

Pip. Dildocam made me laugh........ I can't tell you the look on hubby's face the first time he seen that........ Men - meh!!!!!

Completely understandable broken :hugs:

Thinking of you all today, I will be lighting candles for our babies tonight x

:haha:

Matt was the same and his face was even more of a picture when they suspected ectopic with one of my pregnancies, one of my ovaries (and therefore tubes is right at the top of my uterus, it makes it difficult to see so it required a lot of thrusting with dildocam

Im just going through my 4th miscarriage and I'm hoping someone here has any insight into what is wrong with me or what I can do next - sorry if this is longwinded...

Live birth 2010 - no problems with conception (6 months after pill) or birth.

MC 1 - strong bfps, lots of symptoms, started bleeding at 11.5 weeks and confirmed blighted ovum. Very traumatic MC in hospital, needed blood transfusion etc.

MC 2, 3 and 4 - exactly the same each time - 2ww feel mild symptoms (tiny bit sicky, sore boobs). BFP at 14dpo but a bit faint, obviously there but on the fainter side. Tests don't get any darker, symptoms start to diminish by 5 weeks and between 5.5-6 weeks I miscarry naturally. The only difference this time was light spotting from bfp onwards.

With MCs I got pregnant on cycle 1, 3, 3 and 1. Getting pregnant is very easily - which breaks my heart even more :-(

GP initially did a few tests after MC3 full blood count, serum ferritin, vitb12, red cell folate, liver function test, lipid, thyroid function test, renal profile, blood glucose, LH and FSH. All came back normal although FSH (cd4) was 9 which is higher end of normal.

Thought it was 'bad eggs' so followed a healthy egg diet and supplements for 2.5 months before trying again and MC exactly the same way with number 4.

Saw gynaecologist also after MC3 who also did full clotting tests and in depth thyroid checks - I had a higher count of anti thrombin 3 so he recheck and then it was in normal range so again - deemed nothing wrong with me and I started MC4 on my follow up appointment last week.

He now wants to look at karotyping and do a lap and dye and just did a blood test for antibodies but I can't remember the name now. He freely admits he feels there is nothing wrong with me (in a trying to be positive way) and this will be all the testing that is available to us

I just don't get how 4 MCs can be normal, especially 3 of exactly the same. I can predict pretty much the day I'll miscarry and everything they are so similar.

Am I missing something?
Should there be something else I should be testing for?

I keep seeing factor v Leiden and MTHFR about but how do you get tested for those - will I already have been tested without knowing it?

Progesterone has never been mentioned. I asked last week and was told 'sometimes we look at it......' And that was it. I don't have any sort of treatment plan. He said I could have baby aspirin next time but when I told him I'd been on it for MC 3 and 4, he just didn't say anything.

I feel like as a gynae he's out of his depth. I'm considering asking for a referral to prof Quenby as Coventry is not far but don't really know if I'm wasting my time. Maybe there is nothing wrong with me.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings, I have no one to talk to in the real world and this is suffocating me :-(

Hi LPF,
I think you are right and your local doctor is probably out of his/her depth by now. You could ask to have progesterone prescribed from just after ovulation. After all, it is cheap and causes no harm. A lack of progesterone can cause implantation problems (uterus lining isn't thick and juicy enough), which could explain your early and consistent losses.

If you've had a full clotting panel done then that would include Factor V Leiden and MTHFR mutations.
I think getting a referral to Prof Quenby is an excellent idea! She really is a top specialist and has a few more tricks up her sleeve than your local specialist will have.

Lee, you should have seen MY face the first time I met dildocam! I knew I was having a scan so I pulled up my top to expose my belly...

Sorry for not replying to everyone. I'm feeling a bit bleurgh at the moment recovering from a simple tummy bug. I also feel a bit out of range considering I'm hopefully graduating from here again soon.
Sending hugs to everyone going through bad times :hugs:

Lpf :hugs: pip gave great advice. Professor quenby is a good step, they will be looking at natural killer cells being a possibility.

Hugs pip x

Yep, what Pip said :hugs:

hahah Pip and Tasha, you are cheering me up today with your Dildocam stories lol, I hope you are feeling better. It's great that you are progressing Pip, another lovely success story :)

I will also be thinking of you all this evening when I light my candle, today is proving quite difficult, I am glad we have each other to lean on xx.
