Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

Me neither but wanted to offer some :hugs: as if MC isn't traumatic enough eh?

I just wanted to say that I'm reading and willing sticky rainbows for you all.

I can't remember what I've shared in here so quick update on me (mentions pg)

So you know I got my bfp on the 4th November, then three days later (when I was 4+5/6) I was seeing professor quenby/professor brosens, any way and as she wanted my new protocol to be very high blood thinners she scanned me, told me it was unsaveable, awful sac etc. I was gutted.

I doubted what she saw was my sac though. She said a week later to go to another hospital (I live over 100 miles away from there) and rule out ectopic. A week later there was a perfect sac, yolk sac and fetal pole. The sonographer said it was great.

I am now 7+3 and two days away from the next scan. Scared and praying this is it.

Oh no worries blueblue!!

LPF I know that sometimes women experience this during a miscarriage with the stop and restarting that you are experiencing. I am not a doctor though and if they have looked and everything looks ok, it's just your body and hormones adjusting back to normal. As long as you don't have any pain, then that is good. Let us know how your appointment goes with your doctor.

Tasha do you have a blood clotting disorder? I appologize, I have spoken to so many ladies I can't remember.

LPF I was thinking about you, have they swabbed to rule out any infections?

Mrs R, don't apologise. It's why I don't write much on here any more, there are sadly lots of us and it's hard to keep up with all the loses, when, why etc etc. I have factor V Leiden x

Hi ladies hope I can jump in on here
Long story short 2009 12 week loss, 7 months later got a BFP which resulted in my daughter!
I'm now 25 years old trying for baby 2. August was a chemical, 5 weeks later BFP!
But things never looked good from the start, non doubling hcg levels, minimal symptoms, then scans always measuring behind,8 week scan revealed baby did not grow in 2 weeks and we never saw a heartbeat. I MC naturally 6 days later, was very quick, only bled for 8 days after passing abit of pregnancy tissue and a tiny sac.

Been docs today requested blood work, so waiting on that and in the mean time been prescribed higher dose of folic acid and baby aspirin for when I become pregnant again and what ever else I need depending on blood results.

I'm just wanting to find out what my blood tests will be looking for?
I know the blood tests are just basic investigations and they won't do anything else until a 3rd loss.
I'm praying that because I'm young and already have a daughter it's just what they call " bad luck " and hope I'll be 3rd time lucky.

Thanks ladies

Depends what they testing you for hun. Is it your gp DuPont the testing or hospital?

My testing started after my 3rd loss and I had a thyroid function test, thyroid antibodies, factor v Leiden, antiphospholipid syndrome and another blood clotting test

After my 6th loss I changed consultants and had a full thrombophla screen and nk cell test

Xx

First of all Stacey_89 I'm so sorry to hear about your losses. Yes it is a good sign you have already had a child and you are young still!! I have had 2 early losses and bothered my doctor to do some tests and they did a thyroid, FSH, progesterone, Estridiol, Factor V Leiden test and anticardiolipin anitbody test. The last 2 are blood clotting disorders. I already knew I had the Leiden Factor, but found out my test for the Anticardiolipin Antibodies came back slightly abnormal, so when I get pregnant again I will probably be on Lovenox to help with that. It's good they're testing and looking for things!! It may be a simple, easy fix and it's great to look into the possible cause. Wishing you the best and let us know what they find!!

LPF, I think you need to request a scan to rule out retained tissue. The other possible culprit is an infection for which I think they just prescribe a standard antibiotic. Both cases cause continued on/off bleeding and the passing clots.
8 weeks is a long time and your doctors should be looking into this now.

I had retained tissue with my first loss. It isn't uncommon. It might just be a tiny piece left in there (placental tissue, not baby!) in which case they'll probably ask for you to wait it out. With larger pieces they offer a repeat D&C. Saying that, I still had a tiny bit of hcg for a long time so maybe an infection is more likely? I hope your gynae figures it out for you today and can help you out. It is so difficult to try and move on when you've constantly got this physical reminder :hugs:

Morning Ladies

I don't come on here as often as I used to - I tend to just write in my journal (to keep myself sane)

After 7 m/cs and no explanations - other than age I feel like time is running out for me.

Tasha I am keeping my fingers tightly crossed for you hun and hoping everything goes well at your scan BIG :hugs:

Hubby has also announced (back pedelled) more like that he doesn't want a baby (in my heart I still do) so of course this causes huge rows at times - mind you with a cycle of 20 days - doubt it's possible anyway.

Sorry for the rambles guess I'm feeling it more because it's this time of year again and it seems for nearly the past 5 years I should have been pregnant around Christmas:cry:

Okay pity party over - I know some of you have had it much worse, not that it's a competition - I only have one wish that I make every Birthday and in every wishing well - maybe one day eh?

Keep strong ladies

:hugs:

X

Thank you Garfie.

I think your DH is probably scared of more heartache that he can't fix for you. I hope you get pregnant with your rainbow soon x

Well I hope it is, hospital also told me cause the loss in august was a chemical there not to concerned yet as they said chemicals are more commom the MC,and if I never went hospital that night I would of never even known I was pregnant!
and I would be classing this MC as my first one for trying for baby 2.
How long do the blood tests roughly take?
It is my GP thats doing them.
I thought I wouls feel better about going to see a doctor but if im honest I feel abit worried now, im such an over thinker and a big worrier I always think the worst of things. So now im feeling freaked out that my blood tests will reveal loads of probelms.
but like you said, it could just be a simple easy fixed thing or even so may even come back normal. X

Depends on what they are testing for hun. Some take up to six weeks to come back. It is a worry x

LPF - sorry it is still dragging on :( . I hope the doctor's apt goes ok, x

Tasha - I have my fingers crossed for you, hope everything goes well :) x

Garfie - Christmas is hard, I don't feel like celebrating this year either. So sorry you've had such a tough time. My last two losses have been around the time of the due date of the previous loss. It feels like it's never ending x

Stacy - sorry for your losses x

Petitpas - I tried send you a message but it bounced back as your mail box was full, I was wondering if you could message me with the names of the NHS consultants who specialise in immune issues and the tests you had done. Hope everything is going well for you x

Blueblue, one of them is Mr Shehata (he is an NHS consultant but also has a private clinic www.miscarriageclinic.co.uk). The other one that I know of is Professor Quenby. There might be more by now but those are the two I have heard of. I went to see Mr Shehata.

Hi ladies,

I had my gynae appointment today and he was concerned by the level of spotting I've had (for 8 long weeks!) which doesn't seem to be related to the miscarriage.

He did an internal (yak) and did a swab for infection and a smear and while he was there he saw a 'lesion' on my cervix which was 'dripping' blood (nice). He's done some blood tests and says I might just need to go to colposcopy to have it cauterised but I might need to have a biopsy to rule out more serious things......which terrified the life out of me. Not sure what he thinks it is.

Really quite scared now :-( results not likely to be back for 2 weeks :-(

On top of that he basically said (nicely) that I've had every test going and there is no reason for my 4 miscarriages and there's no reason why I won't have another child and I'm guessing he will discharge me once this bleeding had been addressed.

I feel like I should have so e sort of treatment plan - I always see others having progesterone / predisolone / thinners etc even just as profolactic but I've not got anything at all. Just supposed to keep going and keep miscarrying.

I'm convinced something is wrong with me as for the last 3 miscarriages the pattern has been exactly the same even down to the day pretty much I miscarry (5w5d-5w6d) in exactly the same pattern. That much similarity can't be due to chance......

Sorry for the essay. I'm so scared about whats going on with the bleeding and so frustrated at the miscarriages. I'm 35 in march, ds just turned 4 and dh will be working away after Christmas so I feel my time has run out now :-(

Have you had Nkc testing done hun? Sorry I know you will of said but it's hard to keep up with everyone. I think around six weeks is a common time for things to go wrong with elevated Nkc x
