Recurrent Miscarriage Thread

mommies! I need your help please.. please check this link https://babyandbump.momtastic.com/miscarriage-support/2312837-does-miscarriage-tissue-look-like.html

You're getting so close Tasha!!!! How have you been feeling??? Thanks for the advice! It's right on track with what I was going to ask my doctor for. I have the c677t homozygous so From what I've read that's two. Re prescribed me folgard but like what you're saying that's folic acid which doesn't do me any good if my body won't process it. Why wouldn't an re know this? I had asked my dr to prescribe me metformin after ultrasound results showed a likelihood of pcos but he wouldn't. I meet with re tomorrow and I'm hoping she will. I also have a vitamin d deficiency so need to ask about that too. So praying these are the answers I've been looking for!

Oh dairymomma, you've been through so much. I really hope you get your answers and rainbow soon. I was beginning to suspect hyper fertility for myself too because it seems I easily get pregnant but I just can't keep them any longer than a week after my bfp in the last year. 😢

Just lost baby #4. Hcg came back at 32. So another pregnancy that had just elevated enough hcg to linger around for 2 months again but nothing growing, same as last one pretty much.

It's surprising how many don't know Cami. I was diagnosed almost four years ago now and I've had to explain mthfr to various doctors, one even googled it with me next to them  I have vit d deficiency too so I take high dose vit d as well. Def push for the metaformin, I think at this stage you've been through too much not to chuck everything at it, that's what I did (prenatals, iron, vit d, aspirin x 2, steroids, anti malaria tablets, progesterone, high dose clexane) and I think that's the only reason I might bring home this baby. Why should we keep experiencing loss after loss and adding one thing each time?

I actually thought hyper fertility for me too at one point and actually that theory still fits a little as I stopped getting pregnant so quickly (it took nine months from miscarriage to pregnant with this one and almost exactly a year between the two miscarriages before that, it use to be every couple of months) and then I got my sticky baby. So I think it might of been that on top of everything else, you know?

I'm okay, still scared but only about five weeks to go now.

I'm sorry NDH. Have you had all the testing?

I had all the testing my GP was willing/able to run before I got pregnant this time, which wasn't much and nothing of what I had wanted to be tested for either. I think she just tested me for Lupus and a couple clotting factors but I don't know which ones.

I can't afford to see a specialist for more in depth testing, and there are only 7 labs in the whole country which test for MTHFR and the nearest is hours away so I don't know where that leaves me besides broken...

:( :hugs: did the doctor try any meds at all? If not I'd ask about baby aspirin (75mg in the UK or 81mg in the U.S. Not sure about Australia) and progesterone both low risk and might be just what you need xx

I've been on progesterone for this pregnancy (self prescribed because the drs I've seen don't seem to think I have a problem beyond "a string of bad luck" as I've just been seeing GPs since I can't afford to see a specialist). Haven't tried aspirin.

sorry for your loss ndh. :( I lost a pregnancy in march at 19 weeks. probably like my 8th loss or so. I lost count after a certain amount. sad to say.

NDH - I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs: . My four were all missed too, they seemed to start off well with normal hcg levels, then something would go wrong, we never found out what but suspected hyperfertility as 4 out of 5 times have been the first month trying. I don't know if you can get it in Australia and whether a doctor would take it seriously as it's not a lab test, but 23andme genetic testing will show whether you have MTHFR - you put the raw data through another website called Genetic Genie - I think it's the methylation profile and it will show the MTHFR mutations. I considered having it done (obviously there are other considerations as it shows various risks for things not related to pregnancy) but we couldn't take anything else with this pregnancy as I'm on a clinical trial.

Cami - welcome, I hope you get some help from your doctors :hugs:

Tasha - can't believe it's only five weeks, hope you are ok :hugs:

We don't have anything like 23andme here, and from the research I've done it looks like there are only about 7 labs in the whole country that test for it.

I'd give aspirin a go I'd think. Were you using cream or?

Ginny was on this thread, she had her rainbow a few months ago and she's from Australia, so might be of more help about what's available etc x

Yes I was using cream.

I did just find out any of the 2 main lab chains in my state do test for mthfr, I'll just have to find a Dr willing to figure out how to order the test, and then pay out of pocket as it isn't covered by Medicare.

NDH so sorry for your loss. Big hugs to you.

I met with the doctor at my fertility clinic. He wants to have another look at my uterus to make sure they got everything ( I had surgery for arcuate uterus in November) and he's going to put me on progesterone next pregnancy and keep me at the clinic until the end of first tri (they release you here to your gp after a heart beat is detected). Also on baby aspirin and vitamin e.

This is day 40 of my cycle (post mc) and I don't feel like af is coming at all. My last miscarriage cycle lasted 39 days and my surgery cycle 43 days but this just feels like it's never going to end. Has anyone else had such a long post mc cycle? I want to get back to really trying! We bd a few times this cycle and didn't prevent but I don't feel pregnant at all. I don't feel premenstrual at all. I don't know what's going on.

NDH-I'm so sorry to hear you had another loss. :hugs: I second what Tasha is saying with trying the progesterone and baby aspirin. Progesterone alone isn't enough for me and I'm of the mind that I have some sort of irritation in my endometrium that the aspirin calms enough for proper implantation as I've only carried to term if I've been on both. I have other issues too (hyperfertility is a biggie and probably mild endometriosis) that exacerabate things but I feel like it helps me tons. With the progesterone cream, I will say that I've been told to use it regularly for a bit before ttc as it's a pretty low dosage and you need to give it time to accumulate in your system. Not sure if that holds true but maybe something to think about?

Lynny-I just got my first AF after my latest loss and it was 6.5 weeks after my m/c. I've gotten my period anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks after a loss and it depends (for me anyway) on when my hCG drops back to 0 since I don't start cycling until that happens. Usually, my hpts go negative 2-3 weeks after the loss and I can expect AF about 4 weeks later so I wouldn't worry as yet. It could just be that your hormones are taking their sweet old time regulating again and AF is delayed.

So sorry nkh :hugs:

Kiki- I'm in mn and the clinic I went to just gives prednisone and lovenox to girls with early unexained recurrent mc, I had asked for it but it's their protocol and has helped many girls. I think u should call around to other places. There's a olace in Chicago that probably does ivig too and stuff like that. Can't remember name but it's a Asian lady dr and pretty well known place

NDH so sorry for your loss. I really hope you can get some help and answers as to why this is happening to you.

Had a letter from the genetics clinic today with a form to fill in, then they will arrange an appointment.

Thanks Dairymomma! That makes me feel better and probably exactly what it is. I'm just impatient to get the ball rolling again!
