Hi,

Okay firstly bit of background in July 08 I had a miscarriage and have been ttc since then, I have had three more miscarriages since then the latest being July 09 (at which point they said one more and they would help me), two weeks ago I went to the gp's because my af has been dramatically reduced since my daughter was born in May 08 to the point now it is only a day of spotting. She took bloods and I got the results today they were fine (apart from HB but that is another story), but she thinks the reduced flow, the erratic af's, and the recurrent miscarriage points to something called Asherman's syndrome which is everything I mention plus sometimes infertility, and is caused by adhesions in the uterus usually through either c-section/s or d&c/s.

The thing is she is referring me to the hospital with the recommendation of a hysteroscopy :cry:

I know I dont 'belong' here in this section, but I feel alone and scared. I have no idea what to expect of a hysteroscopy, or even how long referral takes etc, and am hoping someone can tell me?

Sorry about your losses.
I've just had a hysteroscopy - along with a lap and dye. I've never had an op or a baby so i was mega scared but i have had no pain or even soreness down there after it. From the hysteroscopy alone they found a polyp and removed it. I see it now as a good thing coz they can see what is going on in there!

Where do you live - if in the uk you can do book an appointment online if your doc gives you the details. i got one within a month and then the op would have been a 3month wait but I got a cancellation.

Thanks for the reply Tansey, I live in London so will ask about that when I next go to the gp. I am pleased you didnt feel any pain.

Can I ask did you have it done under local or general? And was it a day case?

I had general coz I had the lap at the same time. It was a day case though - as soon as i was well enough i was allowed home.

I have had a laparoscopy in Dec 2006 and Jan 2009. With the last one I also had a hysteroscopy. I didn't experience any discomfort, except from the lap. We again got a :bfn: this month so the specialist wants to do another hyst. Luckily in South Africa, we don't have long waiting lists. In Jan I saw the Dr like the 27th and the 31st I was in hospital. It is only a day stay, but I had general anasthetics.
Good luck and hope all is fine with you.
